Is the Universe infinite?

Morgan Freeman has me thinking, is the universe actually infinite? Or is it simply growing, which in turn means that there is an edge to it all and beyond that there's simply nothing. If thats the case then what is the nothing made of? Where did it come from. How in the hell did something form from nothing in the first place. Jesus my head hurts!!!!
Anyways, it's a great thought. What do you think on the subject. Is the universe forever, or are we simply just a speck of sand in an endless sea of nothing.

I have been watching that show also (Through the worm hole)
And some of that stuff makes my brain swell lol
Does time really exist was a good one!

Every few days i think about this stuff even with out the show..
And i do believe we are a speck of sand in an endless nothing.

I also wonder what would change in people if we all found out there was an end (or definitely no end) to space. Maybe we are just not meant to know or understand some things, maybe in someway it keeps us believing in faith
beyond religion. Hmmm.....Outer space the keeper of humanities subconscious muahaha!

Considering how long it takes us just to get to Mars, it might as well be infinite.

I love watching science-y shows like that too! Just because you're watching TV, doesn't mean your brain has to be turned off!

Infinite is incomprehensible.

I'm like JR - I watch the shows, but sometimes I laugh at the absurdity of the some of the things they say. Since it would take many lifetimes to get anywhere interesting - it may as well be infinite.

A lot of what passes for science is akin to religion - people place their faith in the guesses scientists make - instead of preachers. It turns out that they are probably right about the same amount. Practically everything I was taught ins school outside of basic physics has been proven incorrect.

They need to do a better job of saying 'This is what we think today, and there's a good chance someone will prove it's wrong someday!'

You made me think of a different show i watched on Nova called secrets of the sun.
Everything they discussed was said like it was 100% fact and i sat there wondering.. Well did they go to the center of the sun to come up with this info??
Maybe i am wrong but i have never read anything about people or machine, traveling to the sun to scoop up stuff. Sure they get great pics of the sun now but pics can't tell what the sun is made of.

I still love these shows that take me to places that i will probably never get to see!
