ladies, have you ever had an estrogen rush?

It was from a passage in Twilight, critiqued here and I have to wonder, are estrogen rushes, as described here, real?

Well, they may be real, but since my hormones are out of wack and my estrogen is low, it doesn't happen to me...

Uhh... never heard of this happening. Maybe it's like an adrenaline rush? Or maybe that's what the author meant?

A passage from Twilight? My interest was just lost.

Hahaha, I would love to see something like this for every single page of those books.

Anyway, though her language is beyond simplistic and slightly off the mark, I think the image she was trying to project was "an estrogen high". Something similar to what men would refer to as a "sausage fest" when the number of men outweighs the number of women. Or something stupid like that. I would have gone with "estrogen overdose".

I think I understand what she means, although the wording is so strange. Sometimes when I'm around my female friends I'll act more feminine than if I were around my male friends. That is what I took out of the context, at least.

I think it's like, a good feeling from hanging out with a group of girls? I definitely do get a different feeling from being around all girls, as opposed to being with a mixed group, or a group of all guys. I wouldn't call it an "estrogen rush" though, like I don't think it's a chemical thing, more of a metaphor? I haven't read the book though, just guessing from the passage.

No. I actually have an increased amount of testosterone. So I think a sudden rush of estrogen would cause some kind of problems.

When I think of an estrogen rush makes me think hot flashes and whatever else. I do not think of the feeling you get when you are around many women, but I do feel different around all women.

Agreed, that book is nothing but fail and errors.

Hot flashes are the result of not enough estrogen - so calling it an estrogen rush is wrong. I think what's being described would be an adrenaline or endorphin rush. Both are relatively common especially in BDSM activities.
