Ladies: How often do you blow-dry and style your hair?

Contributor: Kitka Kitka
As I was combing my hair after my shower today I started wondering how many other ladies actually blow-dry and style as opposed to air drying or other means of getting it done.

I almost never blow dry my hair, unless I am going to a job interview or out to shovel snow or something right after showering. I hate how my hair feels after blow drying it. I also very rarely style my hair, only if I'm going somewhere where I need to look really nice.

I let my hair naturally air dry and I do not style it unless I'm going to a wedding/funeral. Other than that there's no need. Plus I have hair to about the middle of my back that is straight as straight can be so there's really no styling to it. I'm just not all girly and could care less about hair or makeup for that matter.

Thanks for the response!

I'll answer my own question here. I almost never blow dry my hair unless I want to flatten/straighten it for a special occasion. Most times I just air dry it and don't bother styling beyond combing it out.

I never blow dry. My hair dryer was mostly used for drying clothes until it crapped out on me. I just go to bed with my hair wet and then use a flat iron in the morning.

I only blow dry my hair if I want to wear it down. My hair is long though and I usually just stuff it up in a messy bun. I don't bother drying it if I'm going to do that.

I never blow dry, it just seems silly to me, and styling=rare. I have to get my hair cut in the back so I can spike it up again.

I only use the blowdryer these days if I'm in a rush and trying to get my gel/hairspray to set quicker. For the most part, I just let everything air dry and I try to style it on a somewhat regular basis. Although styling takes a whopping 10 minutes at most, so I guess it's not a big deal to go about styling my hair.

I have to get to work EARLY. I shower...I blow dry! No time to mess around otherwise. Cut my hair short specifically to make "prep time" less.

Depends. When I want it to wavy and not frizzy I wash, place in my curling mousse, ruffle my hair up and let air dry. If I want just into curly I do the same yet blow dry on low with what I think is called a finger styled extension and dry it in an indirect upward direction. If I want to straighten it I blow dry it downward and then use a flat iron. If i want ringlets I blow dry it downward, curl then spray in some curling hair spray. I do about two or three of these a week.

The rest of the time I let it air dry with some anti-friz product and tie my hair up in loose pigtails, a pony tail, or I side part and hairspray/hair wax the part to keep it's place.

Edit: Also I'll ride in the car with the windows down if I need to help my 'air drying' hair in a hurry, no matter how cold or hot it is out, haha.

I don't think I use a blow dryer more than 4-6 times in a year - maybe even less. I'm prone to split ends *without* using a blow dryer regularly so I can't imagine what would happen if I used a blow dryer or flat iron with any regularity!

My hair basically has no natural wave or body so I've found the best thing for me is to go to bed with my hair damp rather than letting it air dry completely while awake.

It depends what I will be doing that day.

My hair is really thick so I only wash it once as week as advised by my hair dresser. When I wash it, I blow dry it and style it. Every other day, I take a flat iron to it to restyle it. If I don't blow dry my hair it naturally dries wavy and since I style mine straight, it would create more work.

I have long, naturally curly hair that gets too dry if I wash it too frequently. I usually wash it 2-3 times a week, and use a blow dryer with a diffuser on it every time (otherwise it would stay wet for a day or two, lol). I wear it curly almost 100% of the time, because it's easy and I really like the look.

I have thin, delicate hair and am allergic to glycerin and fragrances. This means most styling products are out, and that hairdryers are just too much.

I always let mine air dry. I only style it for special occasions, usually I just brush it and go.

I don't even brush my hair. My hair is so thick and wave/curly. I just wash it and let it do its thing.

I only blow dry if I'm straightening my hair and I need to do it quick. Otherwise, air dry. Styling usually consists of putting my hair in a ponytail, bun, hair clip, or braid. My hair is kind of unruly and really thick, so I just try to keep it out of the way.

I need to blow dry mine every morning and every night after I've shampooed, or else it'll be a mess.

Wash, brush, air dry and go! I rarely fuss with my hair. In order to get it to do anything, I have to have layers cut into it and I hate going to get my hair cut.

It's so rare that I blow dry my hair. Usually I'll just air dry it or sit in front of a fan if it's not too cold. I hate the way my hair feels and looks when it is blow dried, because it looks dried out and frizzy! And it feels that way too! PLUS it makes my hair look its "natural" way...which is cute on others just not on me! Think Hermione Granger from Harry Potter, from the first movie. YEAH. That is MY hair.

I only actually do anything other than just put it in a bun or let it dry naturally after i comb it like once a month. Probably less.

Air dry, style and straighten daily. I never blow dry, it's bad for my hair and color.

I keep my hair so short that I can step out of the shower and have it dry by itself pretty quick,no hair products, colour or styling I just wish I had always kept it this short!
