Let's Play Dress Up!

Contributor: VieuxCarre VieuxCarre
I'm a girlie girl, self admittedly. I like dresses, getting my nails done, and wearing make up most days. I know that you all probably don't care what I like, but it leads into my questions

How many of you, men and women, like to get dressed up to go out to run errands, go to dinner, etc.? How many of you like to wear make up? If you do, do you wear it religiously or just some days for work, dates, etc.? Do you like to get dressed up at home for a night in to seduce your partner?

And, both men and women, do you enjoy being pampered every now and then? Do you like to go and get a manicure/pedicure once a month, a year, a decade?

If you don't enjoy doing any of the above, do you like for your partner to dress up and use make up? Do you not like it?

I know, that's a lot of questions. Don't throw a virtual shoe at me for it

I do not personally get dressed up to do anything, as I look classy and well put-together daily. No need for me to get dressed up. No, I do not wear makeup. Now, getting dressed up for certain scenes, however, is something that I do every now and then - say, once every four months. HAHA!

I enjoy being pampered, sometimes, like with a nice massage. Anything other than that, no, I do not really like it. I do not get manicures or pedicures. I should, however, to keep myself clean. But I don't.

Alright, and now for the last one...I love it. I especially love to dress a partner up and put makeup on her. It just makes me feel so good, to sit down and have her standing up, and put some lipstick, mascara, or eyeliner on her. If the partner were to dress herself up, however, I would like it too, depending. I generally do not like surprises though - I do not take well to them.

The most makeup I ever wear is a little colored lipgloss, and that's rare. I hate how makeup feels, and I think people look better without it.

I do like dressing nicely to go out to dinner, though, with friends, family, or my boyfriend. A little more sexily when I'm with my boyfriend. I like it when he dresses nicely for me too, which he always does when we go out.

I don't get manicures or pedicures or anything, though I would like to go to a fancy spa some day. For now, I'd rather spend what little extra cash I have on books, music and toys.

I love playing dress-up, erotically or not. Renaissance fairs, Halloween, bedroom, whatever. And greeting my boyfriend at the door in a slip or a costume is always fun.

I wish I had a reason to get dressed up more often. But most days I just end up with a quick swipe of eyeliner and whatever t-shirt I can grab and I'm out the door

I love being pampered, and I love pampering. And a lot of nights I wear lingerie to work under my clothes to tease my fiance and then show him when I get home.

I like the idea of lingerie under the clothes to tease your fiance when you get home. I'm sure he enjoys that as much as you do

And I'm a lot like you most days. Some days I just don't bother with the make up because I have so much to do.

I wish you lived closer so we could go and be pampered together!

I used to hate the way make up feels, but it took a lot of trial and error to find a brand that I like that doesn't make me feel like I'm wearing a mask. Out of curiosity, what brand do you use?

I've never been to a Renaissance fair before, but I'd love to go and dress up sometime. Is dressing up and going to one as much fun as it looks in photos?

Getting a manicure doesn't always involve getting fake nails. It does for me because, well, I like having long nails and my natural nails are far too brittle to grow out long on their own. Getting a manicure is relaxing and it helps to get rid of dead skin around the nails and treat the cuticles as well. Pedicures are much the same, though they tend to scrub and scrape the dead skin from your feet. It's so refreshing. I think you'd enjoy it

It's interesting that you enjoy dressing your partner up yourself. Not many people say that they do that. It's a nice change of pace sometimes.

I know that it doesn't, that's why I said that I should every now and then to keep clean, because my nails are horrid. HAHA! And thank you, sweetheart. I suppose that it is interesting, in a way.

See, for me I like to put on something sexy for my partner when he comes home or for play. I like to tease but follow through with it in the end. I've gone so far as to do full make up for a scene that was going to have me sweating, crying, and ruining my make up.

It's what I do

That would be absolutely fantastic if we could, I love a good spa buddy, lol.

He absolutely loves the idea of the lingerie under my clothing, especially when I send him a picture before I put my clothes back on. It drives him nuts thinking about it for up to 7 hours some nights before I can get home and he can paw at me, lol.

But isn't that the most fun? Keeping him waiting and drooling over a picture on the phone?

I absolutely LOVE dressing up. Most days I'll put on minimal makeup and leave the house. I like to use Bareminerals, I'm absolutely in love with it. Not only does it look natural, but I've also occasionally slept in it without it bothering my skin.

My roommates and I like to have themed parties, so I get to dress up frequently. For example this year we had: an anything but clothes party, a lingerie party, a Halloween party, and a prom party. I love getting dressed up, so I put a lot of time into my appearance when we have an event to go to. Once my boyfriend and I went to a "Stages of Britney Spears Party" and I dressed up as toxic Britney complete with the bright red wig and leather suit. I also sat down and watched a tutorial on how to do the makeup from the music video because I'm a tool like that.

Although I generally wear minimal makeup, sometimes I like to glam up my appearance a little bit. I'll occasionally dress in nice clothes or put on extra makeup just when I feel like looking nice. I'll also dress up for my boyfriend either to go out to dinner, or just to go over to his house. I'm clearly a very girly girl, and proud

So far I like it almost as much as the end result

Except when it's a new set and it turns out to be one of those ones I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, lol

I've had days where I just put on nicer clothes and some makeup just to look nice, and everybody just asked me what the occasion was, lol

I've tried multiple kinds of makeup -- Clinique, Almay, Revlon, Body Shop brand, and more. I really do think everyone looks better without the stuff, and that includes me. I like nail polish though.

Renaissance fairs are totally fun. I don't get seriously into it beyond dressing up, but I have friends who do. Everyone's really friendly, there's lots of joking, fun shows, yummy food, and plenty to buy. Tons of leather products if you're into that. And, of course, wonderful bodices and corsets: I got a red and black one with bells the last time I went.

I'm a girlie girl in a way (for looks, but not attitude), but a tom boy as well. My closet is completely split but I still own more heels and dresses than any girl I know. My friends raid my closet on frequent occasions.

I also am probably one of those people that actually will spend the average $12,000 on makeup in their lifetime. Or perhaps more, my gfs raid that too haha! I can't go long without tanning and some times I go months in a row with gel tips.

I get to dress up often for dates with the bf, dinners, photo-shoots, clubbing, ect. I also dress up for not so dress up like occasions, like playing pool sometimes. Nothing like a classy lady turning heads that way, heels and all.

But then there are the days where I got my favorite baseball cap, comfy jeans, converse, and tight little boys tees to work on a car or play some softball. I got mascara on and maybe some bert's bees...and I'm good to go!

I don't like putting ALL the glitz and glam on all the time because then no is impressed with your natural beauty or are not even more impressed when they see you all dressed up. LOVE IT! I don't have to be done up to leave the house or show up somewhere. I'm comfy in my natural skin.

I went shopping today actually. Pair of heels, 3 dresses, a skirt, a fedora, a top, and a vest. Nothing better!

The only thing I don't mess with is my hair. I've straightened it or dyed it only a few times in my life and my natural unruly multi-shaded carmel hair is the way to go. I love having long hair as well. I feel like a boy when I don't even though my friends love it that way too .

Oh and...forgot the partner part. I LOVE when he dresses up. He lets me dress him up in stores and then picks what he likes best. Umm...best bf shopping buddy ever! I had one once that was more into fashion than I was and one that wasn't at all ugh. My bf is like the perfect shopper . He cares what he looks like and takes pride in looking good for me when we go out (I do the same for him). We enjoy dressing up together for a night on the town and in the summers this is almost every other day.

I love makeup, and wear it all the time even though I wear jeans and a T at my present work place. I probably spend 20-30 min in the am on my makeup.
When I go to the gym for a vigirious workout with kick-boxing, I still wear some makeup. Something that doesn't run.
My nails, other then nail polish, I leave alone. My hair is long, I wash it every other day but after a vigirious gym session, I will wash it again.
When I go out, I love to dress up, many times provacativly, I love it.

I'll probably spend over $12,000 on make up in my life. I love make up and I really can only wear the expensive kind. All of the cheap brands ruin my skin and make my pores look HUGE. My make up splurge is well worth the hundred bucks every few months.

I have an entire drawer devoted to comfy clothes. I like to kick back and stuff more times than going all out to get dolled up.

I'm jealous! I wish my previous partners would have enjoyed shopping. Most of them got pissed off when I would dress them and told me that I was "trying to change them." Not really. It was more like showing them what I like too.

I spend about 15 minutes doing make up now that I have really good product. I love spending time in front of the mirror now. I can't bring myself to wear it to the gym, though. I feel like my pores are suffocating when I start to sweat and it mixes with the make up.

How do you keep your hair long? Rather, how would you suggest keeping it to let it grow out longer? Mine is driving me insane being short and I really want to get it back down to my shoulders, if not past them.

It all depends on my mood. Some days I'll go out in jeans, a band t-shirt, eyeliner, hair a bit mussed up and generally not caring.

Other days I'll spend about 10 min doing make up and wear a cute, girly dress.

However, I adoooooooore dressing up, especially for parties and whatnot. That's why the only parties I bother going to are the themed ones :p

I definitely paid more attention to matching clothes and applying makeup in high school than I do now. There's just very little time for me to spend on looking "put together" during the week. I'm lucky if I remember to change my socks! Some weekends, though, and over school breaks, I will take especial care to actually put an effort towards looking good. I'm more of a girly-girl these days. I like looking feminine and I like make-up, even though I always botch it. During my post-exam crazy time, I barely talked myself out of spending over $100 on make up.

yea glad you share my love! I don't have sensitive skin, I just like the expensive kind. It makes the difference in makeup.

Comfy clothes...well my dresser has 50+ pairs of jeans and the dresser can barely be clothes, so I'm in that category as well lol. I'm in the process of cleaning some of that stuff out. Such a painful parting process haha.

Yea the shopping is a blessing for sure. He said his last gf tried to change him by dressing him, but for some reason he liked it when I did it. I didn't force him to buy anything, but he always ended up doing it saying he wanted to look great for me. I was just happy he would put stuff on to show me.
