Liquor Collection

Contributor: Viktor Vysheslav Malkin Viktor Vysheslav Malkin
So how many of you out there have a Liquor Collection?

I am looking to build up my dwindling collection. Right now I only have an un-opened bottle of Ezera Brooks, and a about athird of 151 bacardie. Only my list of wants are:

Sobiesky (Polish vodka)
Crown Royal
Svedka (Swedish Vodka)
The Glenlivet XXV
Black Velvet
Wild Turkey
DeKuyper Peach Pucker Schnapps

Anyone have any suggestions? I am very interested in Alcohol from different countries and Regions.

Where do you buy your Liquor? I have to go to the expensive as hell and only Liquor Store in town... Wish there was a good website for it, but I think its illegal to send Alcohol across state lines. Don't want or need the ATF knocking on my door.

I'm not a liquor collector, but I am a liquor connoisseur. It is legal to buy liquor online in the USA, but it is only legal in some states, so if you do want to purchase alcohol online make sure to check your local liquor laws.

Also, as a tangental note, I've tried both Svedka and Sobiesky, and I much prefer Sobiesky. Svedka was almost crass, Sobiesky is soft and smooth and delicious. My favorite, for certain.

Awesome, thanks for the information.

After seeing the commercials for Svedka, I didn't want it at all, but after seeing it was from Sweden I kinda had a thought... never tried a Swedish Liquor before.

I am adding Pinnacle from France to my list, Have you tried this?

As for beers, I like Millers High-life. ITs cheap, and I love the taste. I don't think anything can beat Rolling Rock though, that is my favorite beer, a little expensive though

I used to have a few things,

Tangueray Gin
Grand Marnier (I heart grand marnier on ice)
Troika (Vodka...I usually get this brand but I am open to trying others but not Smirnoff, it has a horrible synthetic after taste)
Rhum (I ususally have some cuban or dominican republic rhum...my mom always gets me a bottle!)
and a bunch of random stuff

But now...I'm completely dry!

I have a tiny bottle of kahlua from an airline that was given to me by a friend, but I'm afraid to drink it, because my stomach rebels violently against both alcohol and sweets.

I have a bottle of Ketel One and a bottle of Limoncello in my freezer. I also have a liquor shelf on my china cabinet in the kitchen with what I guess are just the basics:

DiSaronno Amaretto
43
Captain Morgan
Absolut Pear
Absolut (original but in the limited ed. disco packaging)
Makers Mark
Southern Comfort
Southern Comfort 100 proof
Blue Curacao (for mixing fun stuff)
Smirnoff Lime
Smirnoff Orange
Smirnoff Raspberry Twist

Honestly though, they're all covered in dust. The only ones I really drink are the Southern Comforts and the Makers Mark. If I'm not drinking Bourbon whiskey, I drink Skyy vodka which I didn't even realize I was out of until now, if that tells you anything. I was initially trying to have a really well-rounded bar (I have all the traditional mixers, a few bottles of wine, and a bottle of champagne in my fridge) but never got around to adding a regular rum or a gin.

There is a new Chambord Vodka coming out that I really want to try but according to the distributor no one near me carries it yet.

My collection is absurdly small. I usually have some wine but I don't even have that right now. I try to occasionally stock with some delicious creamsicle stuff that's pre-mixed but that just vanishes every single time I have ever bought it. (Seriously though, it makes me the happiest drunk in the world.)

Pinnacle (French Vodka)
Skyy Infusions
Silver Patron (Mexican Tequila)

Wow. I have a LOT to learn. I'm just now starting to educate myself on liquors and wines (been a teetotaler up until I separated).

For some reason I am wanting to get Labrot & Graham: Woodford Reserve (Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey) in the worst way. Never tried it. Fancy ads I suppose.

anyone try any good old fashion homemade kind?

Amaretto is nice, and you really should at least try the grand old proprietary liqueurs (Benedictine, Chartreuse, Grand Marnier, Drambuie)

Triple Sec is good for mixing (the colored Curacaos are mostly Triple Sec + food color, so you can skimp there with a bottle of Triple Sec and a pack of food colors).

Creme de Cacao and a coffee liqueur are good to have (B52!), as are the things for Brandy Alexander (both are good after dinner).

A couple of really good spirits for drinking alone, and some decent ones for mixing. Scotch and Irish whiskies are nice to have (Irish is much lighter, but still (if you get a good one) all malt).

A decent selection of mixers (good vermouths, etc.)
