Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus: The most famous relationship book ever published.

Contributor: Mr. John Mr. John
This book was so popular that it sold over fifty million copies. It was the highest ranked non-fiction book, spending one hundred and twenty one weeks on the bestseller list.

The subject matter was relationship problems between men and women. The writer metaphorically described that men and women come from distinctly different planets, and that they are a direct result of fundamental psychological differences. It describes each being acclimated and accustomed to its own planet’s society, and that both a man and a woman have distinctly different ways of responding to stress and stressful situations. It supposedly offers the secrets of communicating without conflicts.

I’m not here to give a book review, but I am curious if anyone remembers reading, or seeing this book? I suspect that anyone in a relationship is baffled at times why the other person acts or behaves the way they do. I know my wife still keeps a copy of this book on her nightstand. So, I ask you, is this book still relevant? Would you like to have the secrets of communicating without conflicts? Would you buy a book which offers to provide insight and perspective to your relationship? Maybe you are looking for a new relationship because the previous one, or others failed, and you are hoping not to repeat those past relational mistakes. Maybe you are new to having a relationship, and you want to be prepared. So, I am asking all of you viewing this discussion to let us know what your thoughts are on this subject.

I don't believe that men and women are from different planets, metaphorically or otherwise. Queer relationships suffer identical strains. We all have a different communication style, depending on how we are raised. These barriers need to be overcome with any two people. I think the ideas espoused by this book strengthen the stereotypes we could be working to break down.

I've read it, it's pretty good and has a lot of common sense advice about common male/female traits
