16. My mom kicked me out since she did not want the responsibility of raising children(just the welfare money).

I was at home until after college. But I was never home from 16 on. Always working, school, or playing. My parents could not help with paying for college, so they let me stay there and save my rent money to help pay for school.

20, I think? I only stayed because I was working and using the money to go to a local college. Then I transfered to a university and lived on campus. During that time I got married and we rented an apartment. Never went back to my parents.

Mr Scotch joined the Navy @ 20 and never moved back. Before that he had been living away at college.
Mrs moved out at 23 when she got married...the first time...should have just gotten an apartment...

I was 16 when I got my own place. The state helped me once they realized I was homeless and trying to attend school. My parents were the best

I went away for college at 18 - but come 2 summers. After that I was on my own - so about 20 it was permanent.

I was 20 when I got my first apartment (a little over a year ago!). I moved out of my mom's house when I started college at 18, but I was living on campus or with my older brother, and neither of those count as my own place.

...well. I felt like I was on my own at age 10 due to being put in foster care. I felt like they never took care of me like they should so I pretty much took care of myself, but officially at age 19.

I moved out the first time a couple of weeks after I turned 18. I've been back and forth in my parents house due to crappy apartments/landlords. Right now I own my own house but I have to stay with them until I can transfer my job.

I got an apartment with my boyfriend (now my husband) when I was 19, but I kind of lived half the time at home (near my job) and half the time at my apartment (near my school) for a while due to transportation and scheduling issues. So it was kind of a long transition for me. Fully moved out by the time I turned 20.
When I was 25, hubby and I were going to move back in with my mom to help her out after my dad died, but my mom passed away suddenly and unexpectedly 2 weeks before the lease was up on our apartment.

I was 18 and still finishing my senior year of high school. That was a tough time in my life. My dad and my step mom hate me.
