The first post is a little vague. It's important to post a link when you start a thread like this. Everyone can't be onboard with every issue unless someone links to it.
Even if bayosgirl's link was correct, it is an interesting topic, but I was not aware of it.
I do believe that genetic diversity is important in plants and animals. Lack of genetic diversity cause the Irish Potato Famine in the 1850s (and caused part of one half of my heritage to come over the USA) because they were given only
one variety of potato to plant. That variety was invaded by a disease and ALL the potatoes rotted in the ground, killing at least One Million people and causing and other million to leave Ireland. If two or three or more kinds of potatoes had been planted, at least some would have been resistant to the disease and no one would have died.
It is dangerous to only plant or breed one variety of anything. We should have learned our lesson 160 years ago.
