Nightmares and Feelings when you wake up from them....

Contributor: Breas Breas
So I made a poll asking if you can remember your dreams.. and this discussion is for those who DO remember their dreams...

I'm wondering how many people wake up from a bad dream, and feel really uneasy for at least 5-10 minutes once they wake up..

Most of my dreams are nightmares, and when I wake up, I always have these really negative feelings.. Sometimes they are frustration, anger, sadness, etc or a combination of all of them.

Last night I had a bad dream, woke up this morning and was really effing pissed off. I had built up aggression from the nightmare and dealing with all of the bullsht that I dealt with while in the dream.. When I woke up I was just angry. Not at anyone specifically, but just in a really negative mood for about half an hour. There have been dreams that have ruined my mood for the entire next day. Maybe I am too sensitive..

I don't know if this happens to anyone else but I thought I'd ask and see ... Does this ever happen to you? How do you deal with it?

I've had this happen; I usually call my boyfriend and he makes me feel better!

I've had dreams/nightmares that destroyed my entire day. I rarely ever talk about this because most people dismiss me right off the bat and tell me that dreams don't mean anything, but I have had several dreams that became reality much, much later in my life. I can tell the difference between one of these dreams and the normal dreams where my brain is just arranging and then cataloging events/facts/emotions I've experienced. They scare the absolute shit out of me.

For instance, I dreamed my bottom front teeth shattered and fell out. Two weeks later we get a call that a member of my husband's family passed.

Six months later, I had a dream that my father was a white horse and I was trying to lead him through a river. I called him to check on him (after not speaking to him for more than a decade) and discovered he was in the local hospital with a laundry list of health problems.

They are always incredibly intense and sometimes I just can't shake them. When they're really intense, I write them down in a dream journal and don't really talk about it. But, if it's something that only mild upset me, I'll immediately tell my husband. Lately, he's been dreaming that I'm going to leave him. He never remembers his dreams and so those are particularly disturbing to both of us...I'm rambling now.

I don't have many nightmares, but if I do, I'll wake up in the middle of it and all is good. I don't usually remember what my dreams are about, after I've woke up.

a lot of my nightmares I don't remember anyway, but i feel a little panicked when I wake up. it goes away after two minutes or so.

the only time i worry about nightmares is when my abuela has one because it usually means something not good is going to happen in the near future. it's superstitious (and sounds batshit insane) but she's pretty good about predicting events.

My mom actually has had dreams like this where they eventually have some truth in her reality.. Mine aren't really like that thank goodness because a lot of my dreams are just effed right up.
