Non-English forum posts

Contributor: El-Jaro El-Jaro
After posting on the German language thread, I wondered why there weren't more non-English forum posts.

I think it'd be great to have them. Keep in mind though, unless an Eden Staffer is fluent in the language, Abuse Reports would be VERY tricky to investigate.

Thoughts? Comments?

Wasn't the original victory song the Ewoks sang at the end of Return of the Jedi translatable to "It smells like cereal in here" in Finnish?

I think it's cool. I don't think abuse would be that much of a problem. I mean someone else not in the forum could read it. There are always eyes. I love speaking German and I use it many of my reviews which sparked a trend I think. I love it!

I'd be down for starting threads in Spanish.

Unless you had EF staff who could effectively moderate the threads, I don't think it's a good idea. Like you said, JR, Abuse Reports and other incidents would be harder to verify and deal with.

I'd be interested in a Spanish thread too

I don't see any reason why not to, if relevant. However, the issue of monitoring abuse / abuse reports would not be possible in some cases.

I agree with this. It's fun to include words or phrases into some threads and even reviews but a lot is lost in translation and would be hard to monitor.

Wait...I wasn't even aware that there was a non-English forum... Where is it?

I would love to have a Spanish forum. I've been taking it for seven years and I've decided to turn my Spanish minor into a second major. I'm absolutely in love with the language, and I've noticed that EF has some products targeted towards Spanish speakers that don't even have any reviews on them whatsoever! How tragic!
