Old or new movies? :)

Contributor: DreamWolf DreamWolf
I know that not all old or new movies are so good or so bad, but in general, if you have a preference, which do you like better? The style of the older or the newer movies? (Old is meant like, like, like, like until the 70s let's say... Or maybe I should say another measurement... Ya know... The "oldschool" movies... )

Generally speaking, I like newer movies, largely because of the greater atmospheric variety. But it all depends on the movie - I love a good movie no matter when it was made.

Seriously, who can choose? There are great movies all the time. The majority of what's produced today is drivel, but there are some gems in between. Same with any day and age, I suppose.

Really depends on what genre i'm watching....My favorite movies are horror movies and with a few rare exceptions they fail horribly lately

Typically watch older movies (like 30's-60's), but I do look forward to new movies-- I just have very select tastes when it comes to them.

Both. It really depends on specific genres. For example, I prefer more recent horror movies.

I have to say I like the older movies better. Being 25, I would think that the newer movies with real life graphics and the technology put into movies these days would be the best, but it's not the case. I think up into the early 90s is when I would say movies were their best with the 80s being the best decade. However, since then i think we have had a big decline in how great movies are made. I think the acting in earlier movies is more real and that you don't have special effects to take away from the plot. So many times anymore I see tons of special effects to wow viewers with a mediocre plot. Where as when technology wasn't so advanced you couldn't hide behind special effects and thats what made great movies back in the day stand out.
