I dont think open relationships work, someone will be getting mad or jealous..

They can work for some people, but not all people. It requires major research, commitment, soul searching and a strong understanding of who you are, who your partner is, what your goals are and what you mean to each other.

If the girl you are interested in is in an open relationship, you need to discuss these things with her so that you don't end up with a "difference in opinion" about the nature of your relationship. Sure, you may say "well, that's moving too fast!", but I find that people don't communicate enough and are not honest upfront, which just leads to trouble and heartache later.

Personally for me, a open relationnship would never work and would not be something I would want. So I can't give much advice but what I will say is just like in any other relationship honesty and communication is the most important thing. You should talk to her about what she is looking for and wanting. That way you can make sure that you two are on the same page.

no, but my gf's friends tried it. they alienated friends by asking everyone they knew if they wanted to be a part and it shook the relationship a bit. They eventually got married, but are having different issues with their relationship.

I'd be afraid that it would end and that you would be heart broken!

I was in open relationships for YEARS. Most of my dating life was in open relationships and nothing bad ever came of it. I was never left feeling like I was missing something, I hardly fought with my partners, and when I did the fights weren't as bad because I had a shoulder to cry on at all times and didn't feel like I was lacking anything. It was great. Now, though, things are different as my primary partner does not like sharing me, which is fine. I do have a girlfriend but he is fine with that, and he knows her as well.

I'm in a pretty open relationship; as long as my partner knows about it, it doesn't matter.

What does open relationship mean to this person?

I'm in an open relationship but will not have actual relationships outside of mine. Just casual sex. Polyamory is different than open relationships. At least for many people I know.

I've not been in an open relationship. I've had more casual relationships, but not something I'd call open. Though I do have a friend who I would class as having been in one, though she wouldn't agree with the term.

I think it would take a special kind of couple to pull off the whole open relationship thing. Nobody really dreams of being 90 and just hooking up, so eventually one partner might want to settle down, and it might happen outside of the relationship!

I can't even imagine how awkward it would be to ask your friends in on it!
