Do you think people are always the same (aka human nature) or change with time?

I wonder about that often, though I always say that people are just people, and human nature NEVER changes... Though, with times changing, it does effect collective consciousness, and on some level, collective unconsciousness too...

But I must admit, though I did know about a lot of things mentioned in this article/book, it did horrify me immensely and "ruined the remains of my romanticized ideas about history" seeing what things happened in the past!

I don't think that people change deep down. I think that they can appear to change to others but be the same on the inside.

I do think people can change. A life time of experience makes me quite a different person than I was at 25 (I'm 58). Granted the changes may be subtle - I didn't go from angel to axe murderer, but I'm more thoughtful and patient.

Individuals can change, but the motives of the mass of people stay pretty predictable. And I was a history major, so the article wasn't really a surprise.

People do change over time they either learn from an experience that makes them change or they experience something horrible that makes them change. Really depends though. I am not the same way I was this time last year or even several years ago
