Arachnids or birds. I've had rodents and reptiles along with dogs, cats and fish before.

Rodents (mice, rats, hamster, etc) I like guinea pigs and bunnies but my dogs would totally mutilate one, birds (too much work), fish (they don't live long with me), snakes, lizards, and spiders. I'll stick with dogs and cats for now, I do have a turtle that lives in my garden and if I had land I would like horses and goats.

No arachnids, cats (because of allergies, not cuz they aren't cute), monkeys, or birds that can't be tethered outside and taught to hunt.

I like all kinds of pets! I have too many right now, so anything is off limits ATM. Hubby is creeped out by snakes "they have no legs!" and is only tolerant of spiders (the feral ones lol) because they keep other insects at bay..." too many legs!"

I would never have any kind of spider or amphibian as a pet. There is no way you could convince me.

Hamsters - not because I hate rodents (I adore rats and guinea pigs!) but my experience working in a pet shop has taught me that hamsters are jerks, and often finicky as all hell. Of course they can be hand-tamed, but it's just so much easier to do so with a rat. Rats are way smarter, anyway, so they're often more interesting to watch.
And no fish of any kind. You can't handle them and their care is very precise and involved, especially for something you really can only look at. The same goes for anoles, frogs, chameleons, or water turtles (these guys can be handled, but they tend to react poorly to it).
Actually, any animal that can't be handled or is very difficult to acclimate to handling is off my list of acceptable pets.

No specific animals, I just have a few rules:
1. Nothing so hyperactive it tears up the place and constantly gets into my stuff. So no raccoons, monkeys, or ferrets.
2. Nothing I can't pet. No fish or anything that would bite me or try to run away. Pets aren't meant to be decoration IMO.

Honestly I don't think I will ever own any pet other than a dog. I am allergic to cats, fish aren't cuddly enough, rodents don't interest me, I think birds would be to loud, exotics seem like too much work.

I don't think there are any pets I wouldn't own. I have two rats, I have a dog, and a cat. I've had lizards, turtles, birds, rabbits, hamsters, a squirrel, bats, ducks, chickens. I'd raise pretty much anything
