Pin Up Calendar

Contributor: SomewhatSomewhere SomewhatSomewhere
I'm thinking about making a pin up type calander and giving it to my boyfriend for Christmas. Has anyone done this? Did you go to a professional, or did you just take the pictures yourself?

Any suggestions?

There are sites that do single-run prints of personal calendars and such in which you design how you want it to look, download the pictures, and they just print it up. I don't know specific names of companies, but I used to see them advertised all the time in photography magazines I got.

You could also call around portrait studios and professional photographers and ask them if they do such things. With the way digital photography is now, you will likely find somebody who can put a calendar together for you with your photo-shoot. (And it'll look really professional, too.)

(That's such a cool gift idea!)

Wow, that is a really awesome idea. I agree with Chilipepper, that you can upload your pictures and arrange them how you want. I've used Vista Print to make calendars of photographs I've taken. If you can set the timer up on your camera right, you could even do everything yourself and all you have to pay for is the calendar to get shipped to you.

Good luck with everything!

I have thought of this too! Great idea!

I will be going professional when I get around to it. I have a friend who is a professional photographer and does excellent pinup work. He has been asking me to model forever and will do it free, I just need to be in the area long enough.

I think you could do it yourself though. Have a friend edit them for you if you don't know how.

I'm a professional photographer and I've done a bunch of these especially since I live near a military base - a lot of these get sent to their loved ones overseas I do the photography and editing then use a professional lab to make them but if price is an issue there are lots of ways to do them yourself that is much cheaper. From online services to kits you can buy at the store. If you have photoshop experience you can create really cool backgrounds and all.

Thanks everyone! I'm still deciding if I want to dress according to each month, or just do full-out lingerie, but I'm very excited about it; I just think pin up is so gorgeous. I adore Bettie Page.

I have never done that, but I think it goods like a great idea. I love pinups, they are extremely sexy and I can imagine that your boyfriend will enjoy it too.

I had a friend who got it done by her sister in law (she was a photographer) and I tried to make one for my sister.

I would opt for getting it done proffesionaly. I love artistic photography and it'll be a lot more fun to look at if the pictures have a photographers eye behind it.

If you have a Mac/have a friend with a Mac, you can do professional-looking photo arrangements with the standard software (iPhoto). I've seen stuff other people have done and it looks amazing.
