Play music?

I'm really excited because I just picked up a cheapie little Ibanez ukulele the other day when I went into the store to get cables and strings. Yeah, such a bad idea to have extra cash on you in a music store. Anyway, my partner ALSO got me a (mostly) functional second hand Fostex 4 track cassette recorder recently for my birthday and I've had the past week off. So I've been hanging out and I've been making uke/Glockenspiel songs on it, just trying to get a feel for it. It's so cool to be able to manually do a lot of what GarageBand or Pro Tools will do for you. I'm having so much fun and honestly don't miss the digital stuff all that much. Okay. A little, but this is great too.

So how about you all? Do any of you make music? What do you use to make it, and what do you use to record with if you record? Wanna share (youtube, megaupload) or link us to your MySpace? My stuff is STRICTLY private for the most part, but I'd love to see what everyone else is making because I'm greedy like that.

Also, feel free to congratulate me on my new uke. I'm pretty obsessed with her.

That is very cool! I have been recording for almost 20 years, and I do often miss the simplicity of the cassette 4-tracks. You will become more of an inventor when recording that way. Good Luck!

Awwwwww now you can 'tip toe through the tulips'! How sweet! Do you polish her and rub her lightly every day while whispering sweet nothings? Congratz!

HAHA, Blinker, her name is Penelope, or Penny for short. That's all I've got so far. I would like for her to eventually have a middle and last night, but I'm not going to rush it And yes, Airen! I am going to be a regular Tiny Tim!

Also Gary, I actually do remember now it being mentioned somewhere that you were a sound dude. I went to an art school with an excellent studio production department and a lot of my friends were tech kids. I always have had access to all the best stuff to record on and now that I've graduated I'm like...struggling to find an affordable set-up that sounds decent. I'm experimenting with analog recording because I don't know where else to go, really. It's really fun so far, and I'm learning a hell of a lot more than clicking a mouse ever taught me. It's also making me realize how versatile tape can really be and giving me a lot of great ideas.

Funny timing of the post, Sex, Lies & Law...

After years of being out of music (noodled about when younger on a mandolin, fife and concertina), I just picked up a beautiful blue sparkle Hagstrom Deluxe f guitar, and a Godin Exit 22 in a natural mahogany and maple. Started hanging out at the music stores nearby, and searching ebay for various odds and ends, picking up a few amps and cords and strings, and the usual odds and ends.

Trying to teach the hands to move again, but its a blast to be back playing. And, word spreads. Already have a few other local winegrowers to jam with...and it turns out our local cooper is a drummer, and has his wild set of skins permanently set up in one vineyard barn!

Wine, music...and we all already have our women.

Let us all know what you find here and there scouring for parts and toys.
