I actually really appreciated the music over hearing moans and groans.

I 'got' the store in Sanatorium, but I think I need to watch it again to really appreciate it. The first time there is just sooo much to see.

Sorry you feel that way. We wanted to create something original. So much porn is banal... how about new horizons?
I'm glad you made the effort to do something original. Really glad! (Our other film this month, "Official Wife Swap Parody", really exemplifies the formulaic nature of the porn industry.)

I feel like it was just forced. Personally, it wasn't for me. However, it was definitely innovative/different. I do agree with it being marketed as an art film will bring more people who would really enjoy it.
I wasn't prepared for the artsyness of it. I felt challenged by the film, though. It made me think, which seemed to be the goal of the makers. But I wouldn't go back to it multiple times to figure it out. The storyline was interesting and I am glad that folks are trying to bring some innovation to the field.

I really loved the ending of Sanatorium, but I just thought it was tooo graphic for my tastes. The bloody eye scene? Haunting!
There were parts that I felt a bit uncomfortable watching for sure, but in a way that is what intrigued me..it was so far out of our usual comfort zone, and I like pushing limits. My husband on the other hand..he liked the sex scenes but the other parts he was kind of like "uhh.."

I loved the unpredictability of Sanatorium - how you never knew where the next scene would take place or what elements it would bring. That was really cool.

The music was awkward. From what I remember (I think I watched it 3 weeks ago), most of it was tribal-esque. I kept expecting zombies. Which is not sexy.

I didn't mind the music DURING the sex scenes. I just found the vocal track during dialogue to be really quiet.

After I watched Tabitha's interview I lost hope of being able to understand it.

I agree that the music was a little overwhelming at times but I think it also added to the "feel" of the movie at other times.

Agreed, wholeheartedly. Gary O. definitely helped me make sense of it. Now, when I watch it, I will watch it as a film with meaning. The sex is secondary.

More and more we're stigmatized in our business and we wanted to explore the hypocrites that condemn us yet lead double lives.
That makes sense. Not many people would think like that. kool

Echoing Alicia's and Isabel0329's sentiments, I liked the premise of Sanatorium, too, but didn't feel like most of the movie reflected the premise. I was confused by some events and wasn't sure about the significance of others. Glad ... more
We wanted a compelling non-linear film that's like a big riddle... makes for interesting discussion. When was the last time you saw a porn like that?

I agree with what a lot of people are saying -- It was more of an adult movie than a porno. I liked that it had a storyline, but was definitely taken back when going into the DVD with "porn" in my head and not "adult film".

I loved the Outdoors parts the best, I kept waiting for Bear grills, Surviorman, and Ted Nudgent to pop out and ruin the scene. In all honesty, I loved the camera work and locations! Just added to the story and what was going on in the mind of the main character.

Same here. We thought we'd watch her interview in hopes of figuring out what the heck just went on, and that was it for us.

Yeah I had a really hard time with the background music through the entire movie. It was a deterrent for me.
The music and background scores of movies is one of the most critical settings of mood. The greatest directors have always played this to the advantage of the scenes. I think that there were a lot of scene that were set apart with the atmospheric tone of the score.

I thought it was amazing, and really liked it for being so different! The first thing that came to mind when I started watching Sanatorium, was that it was like the movie version of a photography project. I don't know the right term for that kind ... more
Yes! Lots of the desert scenes (beautiful scenery!) felt like they should have been in a photo shoot for playboy or a book or something.

Did everyone get a chance to see the extended version of the suicide suspension on the extra disc?

I was disappointed when I watch the film that the shots of that scene were so short, so I was really glad to see more of it in the extras....

It was very compelling. I was actually quite intrigued throughout the movie. And I loved the suspension scene -- wish there was more of that!

That is true. I don't watch much porn, but I'm definitely not used to it having such a complex story. It was confusing, but kind of kept me interested.

I agree wholeheartedly. Definitely less of a porno and more of an adult movie. Perhaps that's why it didn't totally keep me and my man's interests.. we were expecting porn but got a movie.
