Procrastinating on getting ready to "go out"

Contributor: Chilipepper Chilipepper
I'm not feeling the energy to want to get ready for a party tonight. I could likely blame this on my introversion (and having read that one of the places our group wants to go to has a visitor average of 1,000 on NYE). But I also just don't want to do the beauty chores we women usually do when we go out.

As a consequence, I've made two types of cookies, addressed envelopes for my car and storage payments for all of 2013, strung a pearl necklace, ran up to the store, finished off the egg nog, and drafted letters asking for my car payment balance (when I'm employed) and giving my storage owner a head's up about my (hopefully this year's) pick-up of my stuff. I'm wondering if I should take a nap now.

I'm procrastinating on curling my stick-straight hair and shaving my legs for the most part. Both are a pain, but I like being girly and C appreciates my efforts (he damn well better).

So, ladies? Any funny stories about getting ready and the frustrations our SO's have with it? Do you enjoy the beauty rituals or dread the beauty chores?

I mostly really love getting ready, but some days I'm tired and just not feeling it. Most of the time on those days I just stay home and look a mess. It takes me 1-2 hours to get ready, depending on if I showered the night before. No small task!

Aw. Sorry to hear that. I usually am the opposite, but sometimes I do get a little laggy about it. I'm basically a people person though, so I do well with going out around lots of people. Sometimes I can be really uncomfortable going to someone's house for a party/get together though, but since we usually have them at our own house, it's not so bad for me.

I love your plan! Sounds like me -- egg nog. You definitely know delicious! I downed my entire jug of egg nog last month, and will have to remember to get an egg nog milkshake from Krystal again before they quit having them again. Why the hell is egg nog not available all year? This baffles me! Lol. Okay, sorry. Back to topic...

I kind of find getting ready enjoyable! Lol I'm weird though. I usually have my entire routine laid out. I'll have coffee (egg nog would be even better though!) and listen to music (Skillet almost always makes my mood easier) and then slowly get ready. Lol. I know the beauty chores aren't always fun though, but sometimes it's fun to have time and get creative with my eyeshadow.

I guess your party has already happened since you posted this yesterday. Hope it went really well and you enjoyed yourself!

And my SO knows better than to so much as blink the wrong way when I'm getting ready. I will bite his head off if he says "are you ready yet?" LOL. I get ready before he makes it home usually, but I am sometimes a late bloomer at that. He don't really get frustrated with me. Heck, he's more likely to have to stop to do something or change and take longer than I ever will. Lol. But I'm good with getting ready quickly. He will often play the X-box while I straighten my hair though, but never gets his panties in a wad over my routine. I think it's something he just knows is going to happen and nothing he does will make me decide to leave my hair how it was when I woke. Ha Ha.

I don't think I have funny stories. Sorry. I do have a taser though, so if he ever did get frustrated... well, zaaappp! Ha Ha. I'm kidding. Kidding. But I tell ya, if your SO is being all frustrated. Get yourself a taser (or is it taZer?) and any time they look at you wrong, wave that thing in the air and you got yourself a good mannered, patient lovie. Ha Ha. I'm really kidding so please don't nobody flip out here. Lol. But I really do have a taser. My partner's dad bought it for me for christmas and gave me some free tips along with it... to use it on my lovie, his son. Ha Ha! He said it'd keep him in line better than anything.

That's about the only tips I have is threats. Lol. I usually do shower and iron my hair at night so that it's easier to get ready the next day. If I have a special occasion where I will need shaved legs and all, I'll just do that the previous night to & epilate my special spots before leaving the house. Epilating only takes a few minutes, so it's the easy part.

Your response is still giggle worthy (especially the bit about the tazer). Thanks. I just scrunched my hair with mousse (looked very 1980's) while drying it, and wore knee high boots (the perk of having blond body hair). We went to another party and I got mildly drunk on cosmo martinis and a champagne chaser. LOL
