R.I.P. Ryan Roberts — have a banana split in his honor

Contributor: Petite Valentine Petite Valentine
He wasn't a celebrity like MCA (Beastie Boys) or Ernest Borgnine, but a special little boy who inspired people to make a memory with their children passed away.

Wow. As a father of three kids that was really hard to read. I can't imagine my kids being taken from me so young (or at all really). My prayers are with them.

It's very sad, but I'm glad little Ryan isnt hurting anymore.

That being said, I have heard quite a few stories of his mom thru people I know that frequent Down Syndrome Pittsburgh boards (I have some friends w/ little ones w/ Downs), and just how real his mom is.. From what I was told, she's posted alot of horrible things about her son and how he was a burden and many other things, how she openly made fun of another mom for greiving when her 2 children died of the very thing Ryan died of, among other things. She openly called the people SHE added to her fb page "stalkers", the people who genuinly cared about that little boy. She demanded no one pray for Ryan.

If my child was dying, I wouldnt be all over the news and everything. Yes, there was a little girl who did the bucket list, but her parents are pushing for more research on what ultimatly took their daughters life. Thats why they came forward.

The mom was on the news saying she did not want gifts or money.. then all of a sudden she had accts set up that people could donate to.

My heart broke for that little boy and his prognosis..

I may seem cold, but the only one I feel/felt bad for was Ryan. He was such a cute little guy.

I'm not trying to be mean in that post. I was just shocked when things started coming out of the woodwork..

I can't judge since I didn't see any of her posts, but it wouldn't necessarily surprise. Carrying for a sick child, or a sick spouse or sick parent is taxing emotionally, physically and financially. She may have been venting, or maybe she is a not-so-great-person, but I still think it's wonderful that the little boy inspired so many positive things.

As for not praying, it could be that it clashed with her belief system. Personally, I'll take all the well-wishes anyone wants to send my way, but I've known people who were offended by someone else offering to pray for them.

I could never laugh at another person for losing their children. Thats horrifying.

But that being said, I feel for that baby. It would kill me if anything happened to my children.
