Real or fake piercing: would you have any real ones or stay with the fake ones? :D

As far as I know when you have piercings you want to have them equally, in a symmetric way so they don't mess up your body's "energy balance" as much, as piercing in general can be a cause of heart attack/heart disease...

That's why so far I am still sticking with the fake ones, working out juuuuuust fine...

If you have any worries about having one or a few, what's the "inner debate" so far?

I have had several body and ear piercings in the last few years as well as using fake piercing jewelry. I found that I much refer the real thing. The fake piercings are cute but they don't provide a lot of the sensations that wiggling a real one can. That being said there are some I dream of wanting but will probably stick to the fake since im too chicken to let anyone near there with a needle, but maybe someday I'll work up the nerve

I love my actual piercings. Right now, I only have 11, but I have had many more that have come out for one reason or another. Many of them, like my tongue, I plan to get again, and more in my ears. I have considered getting my hips pierced as well, though that can be pretty painful. I'd probably get dermal piercings for those.

I don't really have any concerns with them, heart conditions from piercing come typically from infection, which is due to not caring for your piercing the way you should, or having it done at an unclean place. I don't actually go to piercing shops often, a friend of mine who has the sterilized equipment did several of mine, and I did some on my own as well, with pre-sterilized equipment.

The only issues I've had were just random occurrences . I had scar tissue from my Industrial piercing, which went away with something called "Cutivate", which is just a steroid cream. That was because I had scar tissue there that was aggrivated. I also have had to take my tongue ring out 3 times now, the first time was because I got in a fight and it got ripped out, the second time was because the jewelry was too big for my mouth and it was uncomfortable, and I didn't have any access to different jewelry for a weekend, and it was too painful, and the third time was because I got REALLY sick and my throat had swollen up, and it was hard to eat with my throat AND a tongue ring AND lip rings, so I took the tongue ring out so I could keep my snakebites

I have multiple piercings. I would never have a fake one. That seems like cheating to me. I'm big on the fact that the pain is part of the experience in piercing. Without that I feel like it hasn't been "earned."

Peggi - I have a dermal in my wrist. I've heard the ones in your hips get caught on jeans and such and have high risk of ripping out. My wrist one gets caught on stuff a lot, so I can imagine that pulling bottoms up and down on your hips would be an issue with hip piercing. If you do that, I'd recommend keeping them bandaged until they were completely healed so they don't rip out. Once it's healed up, it's not budging unless you do something serious. lol I think the hip piercings look pretty awesome. If you do that, I wanna see pictures!

Never really heard of piercings causing any of the issues you mentioned - maybe if you get some sort of rare, terrible infection, but otherwise, I'd assume it would be okay.

That being said, I stick with real piercings as I find that false piercings pinch. I'd rather have a quick jab and it be over than a sustained pinch. I have three holes in either ear and am planning on getting more piercings as soon as I have the money for it. Most likely a belly and/or nose ring.

My eyebrow and ears are pierced. Use to have my nose pierced but, eventually didn't want to wear it anymore.

I've had both ears pierced since I was about seven but sometimes I consider getting more piercings. I'd love to get something like snakebites or more ear piercings and for a while I was seriously considering getting my nipples pierced but my boyfriend hated the idea so I decided to wait on that.

I love body modification in general even if some of it sort of creeps me out, it's just one more form of self expression. ^_^
More than a few times my mother has (half-jokingly, I think) suggested I get my ears pointed and that's something that I've been thinking of doing for years anyway.

I adore corset piercings too but those aren't really something people tend to keep on long term, it's more of a temporary piercing from what I've read.

I have multiple piercings. I don't think the fake ones would give off the same effect. Why wear it if you can't deal with getting a real one?

Isn't that the same as people wearing glasses frames with no lenses? It just doesn't make sense to me.
