Are you relaxed or anxious around people? :)

I noticed that mostly I am just watching, listening, "studying" before I feel more eased up to "be myself" when W/we are around people I haven't met yet...

How are you in that case?

I'm pretty sure I have social anxiety actually, as far as I'm concerned it's not normal to panic and feel like your throat is closing up when you're just sitting in the mall food court.
I used to be alright around people but these past few years I've very rarely gotten to go anywhere because I'm usually the one that has to keep an eye on my mother's boyfriend's father while they go out and do what needs to be done.
His father has dementia so I have to make sure he doesn't hurt himself or go out the front door (we used to keep the keys on a hook by it when we were awake but last summer his dad walked out, down the street, and wound up two towns away not having any idea where he was and spouting nonsense before we managed to find him. In the middle of the summer heat, no less. Now we keep the door locked at all times and the keys hidden from him).

I am anxious enough that it impacts how often I leave the house. Therapy has been a good thing and making some new friends as well...but I am still anxious.

I'm pretty anxious. It depends on my connections to the people involved.
