Omgsh they do look a lot alike. My fiance was asking me the other day if people ever just do random reviews to get points. I actually doubted it because I figured they wouldn't know what to say - but I never thought of people copying. This kinda sucks ;/

Whether the review was copied or not, a forum thread is probably not the most appropriate way to handle this. A more appropriate way would be to email JR/Gary your suspicions, and then let them handle it. Emailing is a more appropriate response because there's always the chance that they wrote similar reviews naturally, or any number of scenarios. In addition, a public forum post is calling out the writers of both reviews and vilifying whomever wrote it second--presuming guilt before explanation or even discussion.

In any event, it's just kind of bad taste.

I'm sorry i just saw it and was shocked, I didn't mean to have bad taste

I have a ticket submitted to hopefully remove this thread. Please disreagrd my ignorance, bad taste and judgement.

Thanks for the heads up!

If anyone finds more plagiarism, let Kristi or I know. We take plagiarism seriously because reviewers work really hard writing reviews and when someone copies another person's review, it's just a slap in the face to this community as a whole.

Looking over the reviews though, they don't seem to be copied.

Some people could B.S. a review pretty well I imagine. I'm not sure how easily an editor could tell the difference between a B.S. review and a vague review, though. Maybe you can develop a B.S.-meter?

It's alright, I did this before as well. It gets annoying when you know your fellow contributors/community are/is being taken advantage of. It is quite hard not to call out people, but glad you know now and no worries

I'll say this right now, I didn't look at anyone's review before making mine. If they are similar, it's probably because we have similar views. I'm kind of disappointed in those who jumped to guilt right away. So they look close. It just means that two people saw the same things.

Hell yea! I comapred! OOh. It pisses me off so badly when people copy an author's writing whether it's a review or a work of writing, either way people DO work hard to provide helpful, informative reviews and it's really shitty to copy someones review! I can tell a copy when I see it! We were just learning about this in my writing class. Also, it's called playgiarism and this IS playgiarism (spell check?) anyways, yes, it's too close to pass the playgiarism check. They even copied the damn name of the review. Man it makes me sick when people do that. It's really wrong. I would be irate if someone stole one of my writing pieces!

THIS WAS CLEARLY NOT just a case of naturally writing similar words! It's damn near word for freaking word. Sorry, but people work too hard to have their reviews copied. Its just so so shitty to copy someone's writing! Like I said, I was learning in class how to tell between REAL and accidental playgiarism. There is NOTHING accidental about it and honestly I dont think it was bad taste to call it out like D & B did. If you're going to be woman enough to STEAL someone's HARD WORK then be woman enough to be called out and be woman enough to stand up and admit it!

I agree with it not being in a forum. Better ways to handle it.

The staff has already come in and addressed this issue, and they have stated that they don't believe the reviews to be copied.

That really should be the end of such accusations here.

As JR said above, the reviews have been compared and there is no evidence of plagiarism. JR is the Assistant of the Review Program and part of his job is investigating claims of plagiarism. We take these claims seriously. If he says plagiarism has not occurred, then the accusations should stop. I even compared the reviews and apart from the title, there aren't any damning similarities. I'm not sure where you see it as being near word for word, but at the end of the day it is irrelevant. The claim has been investigated, an administrator has announced that no plagiarism occurred and no more really needs to be said.

Thank you.

I can't say for certain if this thread will be removed or not. I do agree that posting this on the forums is in bad taste, but we all make mistakes and I'm not worried about it. If in the future you think you see plagiarism again, please contact either JR or me privately on the site or in an e-mail. We'll investigate and handle the situation.

Thanks.

1 This is in REALLY BAD TASTE! and just makes you look bad 2 there are only so many ways to review a toy and so many words to use, especially when I product is that small and has truly 1 use (clitoral stimulation). Though my review of the product is very different from both of these You'd still find similarities if you wanted to. It happens. If you really have a problem with them, contact someone within the company next time, don't make a wall post

Yeah, I heard they ran both reviews through that software that supposedly detects plagiarism, and although the reviews weren't identical, one of them was 89% identical to Twilight.

Heavy sarcasm, if anyone wants to know.

That'd be wonderful. There are computer programs that college have to stop plagiarism you have to submit your paper to them and then publish it. they detect wrong doings
