Though, there is a law in Ireland that states it's not illegal for two under 16s to have full sex, but it's illegal for them to attempt to have sex, but not carry it out. Which I just think defeats the purpose! What more pressure could you put on the boy?

Almost everyone you talk to who was under 16 when they first had sex wishes they'd waited longer to start.

If kids are going to have sex their is not a whole lot we, as parents can do about it. It really just comes down to teaching safe sex methods and encouraging them to wait until they are older/more mature.

When I was younger, the idea of having sex before you were 18 appalled me. Now, so long as safe sex is practiced, I really don't much care. I think it's better to wait a bit longer, but many kids don't have that kind of patience.

It depends on the people. And if they keep it safe. And it's consensual. I don't really think you can generalize about things like this.
