Do you like to buy your sunflower seeds with the shells still on so you can enjoy the salty goodness while cracking them out? Or the already unshelled ones you can just eat without the hassle?

I like the taste of the salt on the shell.

I love to suck the salt off and crack 'em open with my mouth. The shell is half the fun and they just don't taste right pre-shelled. They get stale so fast. Although sometimes I get impatient and I chew 'em up shells and all (and spit the whole mess out when I've chewed all the flavor out of it). Sunflower seeds are not a delicate endeavor.

I don't know anyone over here who eats them just on their own like that.

Be careful doing that, I had dental surgery and the dentist removed two pieces of sunflower shells that had worked there way into my gums when I did that. Painful, expensive and totally not worth it.

I haven't had sunflower seeds in forever. When I was little I would just suck the salt off the shells then not eat them.

I'm in the minority. I can't stand messing around with shells on nuts, shrimp, etc. It's just so time consuming and frustrating.

Oops, I clicked on the wrong one. I actually buy them shelled and raw, I only eat a small portion of it, my backyard birds eat up about 2 lbs a week now that the weather's warmer.

Shelled is winning by a landslide! It's good to know even when they have machines to shell them for us, people still prefer a good old fashion sunflower seed. Though have any of you tried the different flavors they provide? I think I tried a BBQ flavor once, it was no good. The ranch flavor was alright though.

I like them in the shell - I don't eat as many that way, and they're just funner to eat. On a salad, though, I'll take them shelled.

I like sunflowers in the shell and w/o the shell. Depends on my mood. I also sometimes will put a handful in my mouth and just crunch the shell and seed all together. I spit it out though cuz Im not gonna eat the shell but kind of like the flavor. Am I weird??
