Swimmers - do you prefer chlorine, soft water (ion) or sea salt pools?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
Most pools used to be "chlorine". Now even our community pool is chlorine free "ion" sterilized and we have a number of friends who have built or are converting to "sea salt" pools for germ free, chemical free enjoyment.

Swimmers....which do you prefer?

chlorine is good for publicly used pools to kill germs

A little known fact - salt water pools actually produce chlorine. The water is still chlorinated in the strictest sense of the word but not overly so as with an actual chlorine treated pool.

I'm all about lake swimming, even when there are toe-nibbling fish.

I love swimming but I can't stand chlorine. I wish more pools would go to ionization to kill the germs.

I prefer chlorine. Salt water pools make my skin itch and my hair feel slimy.

I haven't tried them all, so I can't say for sure. Although I do absolutely love the smell of chlorinated pool water. Just about as much as I love the smell of bath towels freshly washed with bleach. I know I'm not right in the head, but that smell makes me all happy inside. Reminds me of summers as a kid.

i have to say chlorine, only because i've never experienced anything else. though, the sound of less chemicals makes me want to check it out.

I voted Ion, even though I haven't tried it yet. The chlorine in our gym's pool is ridiculous. I still swim there, but it's truly obnoxious. I also like swimming in the ocean or a lake/river/stream. I hope our gym starts using the Ion treatment, or something like it, soon.
