I have a hard time doing shots when it comes to drinking. My problem is that I just can't do it. I go to do it, & for some reason, I end up w/ it sitting in my mouth for a 1/2 second before I'm able to get myself to swallow it. I don't like the taste of straight alcohol, no matter what the kind. I've talked to a few friends, but only a couple do shots, & they were of no help really. So does anyone here have any suggestions? I don't drink that often, but I would at least be able to do a shot.

Why force yourself to do shots, when you're not up to it? If you really have to, don't think and just swallow it quickly, before you really have a chance to taste it. Try to eat something with lots of butter or cheese beforehand, it'll prevent you from getting drunk, cuz shots will make that happen faster.

I am more of a beer kind of guy. i like to taste my drink. You cant do that with shots. Shots just burn.

I don't do shots very often but I find what kind of helps me at times is to pretend like I'm drinking a glass of water and get myself in the "swallow quickly" mindset so that it doesn't sit in my mouth. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

You can get just about any drink in a shooter form. One of my favorites is a Red-headed Slut. It's vodka, cranberry and peach schnapps. It's really sweet and tastes like candy. If you like Red Bull, you can do a vodka and RB shooter. It tastes like a green sweet-tart. Most of the shooter concotions are very sweet. And you can always explain your plight to the bartender and let them mix up something for you. They're generally pretty knowledgeable when it comes to these things.
