We used to have large get togethers for Thanksgiving and my mother cooked a ton of food. That made sense back then. Now we usually have 6 or less of us and she still cooks a ton of food. I'd rather go out to eat so she wouldn't put so much pressure on herself. However she insists on doing it and only wants minimal help.
