The nail polish thread

Contributor: Jul!a Jul!a
After having some conversations with Miss Debauchery about nail polishes, I said "what the hey" and decided to start this thread.

Here's where you can share everything and anything you want about nail polishes. Do you have a ton? Only a few bottles? Are you really good at making art on your nails? Share anything you want!

The easiest thing I have access to right now are pictures of my nails currently, and what I had before I just changed the colors.

It's not the greatest picture ever, but the base colors are alternating Revlon's scented Mon Cherry (and it actually does smell like candy) and Sinful Colors Savage with the top crackle being the Crackle brand silver.

My current look with a Sinful Colors white pearl underneath and a red and pink alternating Crackle on top. These particular Crackles are the "generic" Pure Ice brand.

Thanks! The last time the Crackle look was popular I had a bottle or two, but it was mostly the black crackle that was super popular. I was so beyond thrilled to find out it was a "thing" again because I loved doing it when I was younger and now there's so many color combinations I can do!

Wow! I'd love to get that crackle polish for Halloween! Right now my favorite nail polish I buy at the store is called Pure ICE. I love O.P.I. but they're so darn expensive. I also like Revlon. Right now I'm painting my nails "Taupe Drawer" from Pure ICE. It's like a solid greyish purple. Very Fall. lol. The colors I want right now... I want a dark chocolate brown color and some gold to draw little swirls with for fall.

Might be hard to see the color, it's this green/goldy color by zoya. I usually only paint my tips because my nails grow so fast and are so long in shape they look fake with a full coat on them, and I dont really dig the fake nail look.

I don't own too many (about a dozen or so) but I get my nails done constantly. My boyfriend loves it when I get manicures, so I figure if 20 bucks every other week keeps him happy, why not?!

I only have about 5 colours which I only use to paint my toe nails. I can't stand my finger nails painted - they look prettier being natural.

I'm with Starkiller87 - mine look too fake when I paint the whole nail. But I'm loving your idea of only painting the tips! I'm going to give that a try.

I have a ton of nail polish, but I don't really wear it anymore. For some reason, every time I have painted my nails in the past year or so, the polish peels off within a few hours of drying. I can use a high quality base coat and make sure that my nails are oil free before painting them and it will still peel off. I used to like painting them and then using a tiny brush or a toothpick to paint stripes or dots on top.

Excess oils in the nails can be frustrating! A less expensive way to do this is to buy a buffering stone or something similar, and buffer your nails before applying any polish. This will allow the polish to stick better for your base coat, and you will spend less money because the high quality base coats cost much more than the buffering stone

I'm an Essie addict - I have more of it than I can keep track of right now! The color of my nails and toes change weekly (and always match each other) but my tips are always always always done in black.

I have a huge case of nail polish that I can barely close. But I really only paint my toes anymore, I use a clear gloss on my finger nails if I paint them at all for the past few years. I should start painting them again. I wish I were talented enough to draw designs on them.

My daughters love when I pull out the box to do my toes, they pick out colors and I do their nails too. Right now they have alternating blue and green toes, and pink and purple fingers.

i have a few bottles. i hate nail polish and only wear it because of camming, honestly. i'd rather just get my nails done every now and then when i have the money because i find doing my own very annoying, lol! but i do them once a week or once every other week for work. i also do henna every once in awhile on my hands, feet, and nails (as well as my hair). i'm good at henna art but i suck at nail art.

That's one of the things I love about the Crackle, instant nail art I didn't have to try and do with my non dominant hand lol.

Is this Edyta? I really like the "funky french" manis I've been seeing lately!

As for me... I'm a super addict. Over 150+ polishes, in every color, brand, and finish imaginable... and I can't stop buying more :p

I love the crackle stuff. But it comes off my nails within a few minutes. One of my kids said you have to seal it after it crackles. Do you do that, Sam? Yours look great.

I know that my crackle polish is a little bit matte in texture, so I seal it with my Seche Vite top coat. I think the bottle actually says to make sure you seal it because the formula isn't like that of a normal polish. It kind of reminds me of acrylic paint, actually.

Oh man I am such a nail polish whore. I have 24 bottles right now in the dining room on a shelf but I have about 4-5 more in my room and bathroom. When I want something fancy I like to do the water marbling to my nails, but lately I've been doing a nude french manicure base with an aqua or fucshia tip.

I wear polish on my toes but rarely my hands because I work in a kitchen. That said, I just went to get a sports manicure today and she buffed them up so shiny! It looks like there's a clear layer of polish but it's just the shined nail. She said that they would stay that shiny about about two weeks. We'll have to see how that goes!

I do, and the top coat helps make it look all pretty too. I know Miss Debauchery uses that super nice top coat, but realistically any top coat you use should be fine. I've always treated it like just another coat of nail polish and always sealed it up
