Toy Storage Bags

Contributor: Avery Dragon Avery Dragon
So I've started creating satin bags for work, my inventory buyer saw and liked them, so we're going to see how well they do. There are going to be many color variations, and my mom and i (yes my mom is helping me with this XD) has brought some new ideas to the table as to create more and different typse of bags. These are just the first of many to be made and i was wondering what everyone in the community thought.

Also looking for feedback to see what people think could be improved or different types of ideas for future production. Thank you in advance to all of you!

Do they have any padding? If they're for glass toys, padding would be a definite plus.

most of the fabric used has a slight padded feeling but doesn't have padding specifically added to it. They're intended for really any/all toys. Only main challenge i've seen so far is some materials, such as rubber are a little harder to get into the fabric without actually working it in

I've been working on some bags for my own personal use. I thought about selling/swapping them, but I quickly realized the time/cost of me making them wouldn't equal a reasonable selling price. Just curious on how you'll handle that part - if you feel like sharing.

They do look great though.

Thank you! Pricing may sound slightly odd but yea..lol um. The small bags I'm selling at $2.5, med - $5, lg - $7.5, totalling at $15 for the set. I get 2 sets out of half a yard of fabric* (so i'm making $30 off of one pattern). I put about $60 into all of the supplies, time/labor depends on task, cutting is about an hour, sewing is avg 7 min. per bag. He ordered 7 sets, and will be paying me $105 for bags. so its a $45 income. Doesnt sound amazing right now, but if they sell well and he wants more, it'll only increase =)

*i use 2 fabrics, one inside one outside. costing me $10

I hope what i said makes sense lol..i'm in accounting class right now *sitting in class* so math seems to be pouring from me. haha

That's a good idea. I was just thinking I need some bags or scarves or something so I can actually use all the space in my different boxes/bags without having my toys go all mutant on me. The prices do seem a bit, steep though. Maybe I'm just cheap. LOL

Let us know how they sell. I like the pink design.

As a side thought - what are the dimension? And would there be any way to label them or tell them apart? Do you have more than the 2 patterns shown?

I currently have 4 different designs as well as about 3 solid color. I'm only working with what i could afford at the time for now...once i've finished these, if he wants more, i'll be purchasing more and different patterns as well. Labeling...I'm not 100% sure on that yet. i had assumed people would get different bags for different toys, but some may want to use same pattern for whole collections..i'm sure something can be figured out for that =)

I'll get specific sizes to you when i get home, i know they came up a little short on a couple toys so will have to increase their sizes by about an inch

as for prices, my company always at least doubles the price that they purchased at, so i assumed they'd sell as follows: sm - $5, med - $10, lg - $15, i do believe that to be somewhat expensive, yes but most customers we have dont have huge collections like most people on EF lol, plus these will be the only form of toy storage my company sells right for now.

So will these be available online at all? Or in bulk?

For the time being it'll only be through my company which doesn't sell online. After i'm able to get a better idea on how this all works, and get some more options on types of bags to be made, i dont see the harm in creating my own website to sell them. If i do create a website, I would most likely give option for bulk, or definite discounts on 'x' amount of bags purchased at a time.
