UPS or USPS

Contributor: Curious Cloud Curious Cloud
So ive been sitting my the window all day, waiting for my package that I paid extra shipping for to be here today, on time... and it still hasn't arrived.

This is the first time ive chosen UPS to USPS.

So my question is.. which do you choose when shipping? and which do you think is the best.

I don't care as long as my package gets there and I know UPS is often out there till gone 7pm working to get it done.

I've used both services before and both have almost always delivered on time.

Where I live UPS cuts a day off of how long I have to wait- always a good thing in my book! That said, if USPS shipping is free but UPS isn't, I'll go with USPS and save a couple of bucks.

For international shipping I only choose UPS

It is faster, safer and door handling. It is about 3 times a price than USPS, but Advantages worth it.

I wish there had been an ANYTHING BUT... option for USPS.

I won't buy from vendors who only ship USPS; I have nothing but problems with them. One order from EF got "lost" in their post office... for THREE WEEKS. UPS all the way

You can call up and ask if they can inquire with the driver to find out where he is!

They're willing to do that for me whenever I call

Living in Alaska, USPS is my only option. I am all good with that though, I prefer to use USPS anyway.

What about skype? Or an online service which has a trial where you can voice call from your computer? (I don't know who has free trials, maybe google voice? Or yahoo voice? Skype?)

It only takes two days to get here USPS from NJ so I just stick with that - less getting it accidentally dropped off at my neighbors by UPS lol I do wonder how it'll change with them moving south though.

I have an odd situation, where the call-box in my apartment complex is just constantly broken. So if it's UPS, I will never get it. I have to drive all the way to the downtown LA UPS center, which is only open between 8:30-9:30pm, to receive a package from them because of this.

WAY out of the way.
USPS gets in because they always can, and they just leave the package at my door which is very convenient for me. It usually arrives within 3 days.

I do both, and they're usually a day late either way I get it shipped.

Ok....wtf.

I hate hate HATE UPS! I really wish I had the option of USPS, but I'm in Canada, so I don't have a choice. They charge ridiculous amounts, and I'm currently in the middle of arguing with them about a $60 charge that I PAID at the door, and they said I didn't. WTF. I am so so angry. Also, sometimes they charge nothing, and sometimes they charge like 30% of the value of the package, it's a huge ridiculous expense and they don't seem to have any sort of actual system about it.

I almost always use USPS. I've never had any problem with it, in fact, in the past, my packages would almost always arrive the day before the delivery was scheduled. Now they arrive the day of scheduled delivery, but I can't really complain about that I don't think.

I hate USPS tracking system compared to UPS, but I've never had a package damaged from USPS unlike the several I've gotten from UPS. Overall I don't really care which gets used as long as it is on time, which for me both have been, and not damaged.

I'm always going to be sticking with UPS no matter what, USPS hands stuff off to Canada Post, who recently 'tried' to deliver a 40 dollar toy to me, 'couldn't find the address' or some bull**** and instead of leaving a delivery notice like they're supposed to, SENT IT BACK TO THE ****ING STATES. I waited 3 goddamn weeks for that thing to arrive, I called Fail Post and asked if there was anything I could do or they could do 'no nothing Sir, terribly sorry Sir'... I DON'T GIVE A **** GET ME MY PACKAGE! I've contacted the store I got it shipped from but I doubt I'll ever see the toy or my money again thanks to the failure of USPS and Canada Post collaborating together.
UPS delivered my custom computer parts and all last year without a hitch.

I am becoming quite worried about my first batch of two (and the second batch of two) packages, they left Illionis on the 21st at 8:44AM and have yet to update since then (over 60 hours later) and am becoming quite paranoid about what may have happened to them...

Does Anyone Here Know What The Max Time Between 'updates' the UPS tracker has? I'm worried sick here D:

I still trust UPS way more than USPS though, UPS seems to move way faster as well.

I usually just go with the cheaper one, being international it doesn't really change the delivery time in most cases but I will say that my orders from EF usually come via DHL and come really quickly too but this time it's with USPS and it hasn't even hit Australia yet and it's been 13 days

I always choose USPS because I get my package in three days. UPS always takes five days to deliver when I go with them.

Before the merger I used USPS for most and UPS for 2 day or next day orders when I qualified to get them for free. Since the merger USPS gets the packages here in 2 days as does UPS however the USPS guy does to tend to arrive a wee bit earlier then the UPS guy so USPS wins if only by a matter of an hour or two. Really the only reason I have now to pick UPS over USPS is for next day orders.

Receiving packages always makes me homesick. I grew up in a rural area, and when you haven't got neighbors, and you're not home for delivery, the UPS man can just leave your package on your porch. Similarly, if a box doesn't fit in your mailbox, the mail lady comes and knocks on your door.

In the city, I can't trust that a package would be waiting for me when I get home again if it's left outside my door. And my mailbox is about a third of the size of the one I grew up with. I'm forever trooping off to the post office or to UPS's 'same day will call' bay.

I prefer UPS because I can go pick my missed packages up in the evening, instead of having to take off time during the workday, as I do with the USPS.

Sometimes UPS is REALLY quick and sometimes it takes them weeks >

I do like them though.

We live in a triplex (top apartment) and they *usually* come inside and all the way up all 6 sets of stairs and leave it at our door. Which is nice It would be nicer if they learned how to knock instead of just leaving it, but I guess you can't have it all At least I can keep checking their site and it tells me as soon as it's been left at my door.

^Same. I usually like UPS better though, since USPS Is almost always late.. and I know EXACTLY when UPS arrives-Almost always at 11am. Which is great since if i know a package is gonna come, i can set an alarm to be up!

USPS usually ships my item to me on time and doesn't just leave it at the door, that's a huge plus in my neighborhood. It's not the most savory of places....
