We always feed our pets RIGHT before we eat, so they are not hungry watching us. When do you feed YOUR pets?

Interestingly we always fed our pets before we ate, but some dog training books say "feed them after, so they learn who is boss...like lion or wolf packs, where the leader eats first". Just cannot do that, myself.

Actually, someone just told me that the old testament says something about feeding your animals first so that they don't watch you hungry too. Something we always did anyway.

So, when do you feed YOUR pets?

The cats always have food in their dish, because they don't really over eat. They aren't heavy, and they play constantly, so they are great weights. The fish get food once in the morning and once at night. The dogs get food in the morning and evening right before our dinner as well for the same reason.

We feed our cats when we wake up, and again before we go to bed.

Our dogs get fed three times a day. They do get fed in the morning and evening before we eat, but that is more for our use than theirs. Our dogs get fed a certain amount of food, and a set time to eat in. Once they are finished, they go out. We generally don't eat for another hour. The third meal is around 11:00 AM and this is to help them not get an acidy stomach. Our dogs (Tibetian Spaniels) tend to have a bit of a stomach issue if they don't have a snack in the afternoon. (Anywhere from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM)

Our dogs are normally in their kennels for our breakfast, but not during lunch or dinner. If they start getting too close to us, or trying to beg for food during a meal, then they go into their kennels again.

They are all show dogs, so they love their kennels and go into and our of them all day long. Their kennels are open all day, and only closed when they need to be restrained for a paricular reason during the day, or when we go to bed at night.

My dog doesn't eat on a set schedule, he has a very acid stomach, so I fill his bowl in the morning and let him eat when he's up to it. Usually he'll finish his food by 8 pm, or else I'll throw the leftover away.

We just leave food in our cat's bowl all day and fill it as he empties it. We don't really have a set time that we are always home to feed him. I prefer to let him eat when he wants to eat, anyway. Our fish has a set schedule for feeding, which is between 11 pm and 2 am every day.

we feed our dog at the same time every day so that it's a routine for us & the dog. we keep dry cat food in the cat bowls all day so they just graze. they aren't super fat, either.

I keep our dog and cat's bowls full at all times. Neither over eat...which is surprising for our dog considering she's a lab, but she's been great at self regulating since we got her, and she's very active so I'm not worried about her weight at the moment.

We usually leave food out at around midday (we have ours at 2ish), and Dog just eats it whenever he feels like it.

The cat has food in her dish all day, so that's not an issue. The birds have pellets available at all times, but are fed eggs and veggies in the morning, and some sort of veggie and rice/pasta dish in the evening. They usually get several fruit and veggie snacks throughout the day, too.
