Were there more, less or the same number of tricker treaters at your placce this year?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
I notice less kids doing house to house tricker treating every year. This year was no exception. Bought WAY too much candy...just not that many children going door to door. Ended up giving every kid a HANDFUL...instead of one or two pieces.

SO...what was it like where YOU live? As many kids trick or treating as usual or have the numbers dropped?

We haven't had kids T or Ting at our house in a few years. I think we had one or two small groups of kids last year. This year we had none, except my little next door neighbor.

As our neighborhood is unlighted (absolutely NO street lights) has no sidewalks, the houses are far apart and we have people who either don't bother to give out candy (C'mon, people, be generous!) or "don't believe in Halloween" kids who live here usually go somewhere else to Trick or Treat. It's sad that this happens. Years ago, we used to have many children Trick or Treating, but the combination of the Spoil Sports and the traffic being diverted from a busy street onto our sidewalk-less road, due to a bridge being closed has caused a complete eradication of kids Trick or Treating in our neighborhood.

My husband's birthday is on Halloween. One thing he loves is to have the ability to scare little kids. This year we really decorated the house, we had a huge spider web attached to our mail box/bird house, we used the stand my husband made for our "upside down tomatoes" and made it into a Guillotine (and I put fake blood on the blade and a huge sign with the words Upper 1% on top ) We have scarecrows that we made, one of a child (scary) and one of a man (which we couldn't find. Where the hell does a scarecrow one puts into an old chicken coop go to in the year since last Halloween?) We didn't put our gravestones out, but we did put our pumpkins near the drive way so they could be seen, plus lights around the door etc. It was fun decorating the house, but few enjoyed it.

My younger one went to a friend's house to Trick or Treat. She was Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas as she waited until the last minute to choose a costume. I was Bellatrix LaStrange, but only a few people saw me. (Yes, I have pics.) My Man just moped in the living room and we watched Halloween and he didn't even eat any of the brownies I made him. I put a candle in them and we sang with our neighbors.

So, it was a low key Halloween on our part. A far cry from the years when we would have a party with 50 or more people, tons of kids and lots of fun.

We don't usually have any except family (cuz we in the sticks) but this year we didn't even get family. We went our own way this year and left them to each other - weren't home in time to see any of them.

I did not take my kids out, I live in the city and I did not even hear them outside. I looked out the window numbers of times and there was not a single light on or any children around. I do not know why but it seems to becoming a thing of the past. Last year when we went it was super cold and we had to walk to far to even get a little candy. We got candy to hand out, and did not have any children at the door.

We usually don't get trick-or-treaters, so this year I went to my friend's house. They had a TON. It's almost like a block party. People drove to their neighborhood and dropped off kids by the van full.

I went over to my parent's place where they gave out candy. There were only a few kids, far less than I remember ever having before. Ah well, more candy for us.

There were a lot more, this year. Usually it's just one, maybe two, but there were over a dozen this year.

Yeah we only had like 20 kids this year. Usually a lot more... o.O Maybe it was the east coast snow.

Happy Birthday to him!!!! You should plan a party for next year. We did the adult only party (since our kid is now grown and off at college) and it really was a blast. Many "pimp's and ho's" combinations there...although there were some REALLY creative costumes...including a big...BUZZING...vibrat or, SIX FEET TALL.

Same here..which is why I asked. I wonder if the door to door stuff is dying out, and will completely end some day soon? I took all that candy to work, and dumped it on the lounge table, rather then further blow my diet!!!

less, I dont know if it was because of it being a school night, or because of the rain storm that was about to hit, or because everyone stayed home because of the economy.
