My husband's child is grown and my child is grown. We have had the house to ourselves for three years now - miss them, but loving the privacy. How about you?

I voted for my God-daughter, because I see her so often that I think of her as my own, and the fact that her mom is my ex and still one of my very best friends, she's always known me as "mamma" as well, I'm her "other mother". There's no man in her life as a father figure, just her moms!

I have two friends that did the exact same thing! They loved it though. Starting over prolonged their years of caregiver and I think they relished the time by stretching it out plus having one almost grown means an extra pair of hands to help out!!

It was hard for me to answer the poll. We have one who just started Middle School and two who are out of High School (one will be starting Grad School soon) but the middle one lives with us. No "home alone" even though two of our children are adults.

With Extended Adolescence being a near necessity because education is SO expensive, few people who self pay for University are able to leave home until after Grad School or until they get a decent job. NONE of my middle daughter's friends have their own place, except for the ones who get massive financial aid (how nice for them, that they get FREE college and can use the money for an apartment and my kid will soon be a hundred thousand or so in debt and still can't afford her own place. HOW to people use "school money" to pay for apartments, clothing, raves, etc? My kid can barely afford to go to a sandwich shop because of her financial obligations, and her friends who get "financial aid" have money coming out of their ears. OK, off soap box now.)

Anyway, we have one child and one adult child living at home, and one who has moved out on her own.

OK - don't we know to include the 'Other" option yet?

There are a fairly large number of us who have college age children living at home - and re-bounders, those who moved out but had to move back.

Mine are both attending college, work and live at home. We're OK with that - but have hopes that they will be on their own soon.
