What are your "Favorite" vegitables?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
How really "exotic" is this group, in the FOOD department?

I am a green beans or broccoli for vegetables and potatoes/rice for starches gal, but have recently started using only sweet potatoes (for baking or fries) and have switched to the nice, "sweet and nutty" Basmani rice.

What are YOUR favorites?

Favorite veggies: broccoli, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, carrots. Pretty much any veggie is good though! We don't eat a lot of white rice, but if we do it's Jasmine. We do eat a lot of wild rice though...the kind that you have to cook for a long time. Found it when we drove up to northern Minnesota last year and bought a bunch of it. It's an awesome side if you fix it up a little and throw in some spices, herbs, and veggies.

I'm a pea fan. They can work well with BBQ and any other salty dish.

Is Basmani = Basmati? After having Basmati and Jasmine rices, I can't say anything nice about long grain (aka "Instant" rice).

I love wild rice blends too, but my husband hates the chewy texture, so we eat California Rose rice which is sort of sticky.

I cook all kinds of veggies, including all the Asian varieties. I also love to cook Brussels Sprouts. Just cut them in halves, season with black pepper/salt/dash of sugar/canola oil, spread them out in baking pan and broil at high heat till their nicely golden brown.

Try Calrose (California Rose) rice if you don't like long grains. It's more Japanese style, slightly sweet and sticky, but do not confuse it with real sticky rice.

I like broccoli, carrots, and potatoes cooked in most ways.

I like most vegetables. Broccoli and potatoes are my two favorites, and every now and then I'll get a huge craving for lima beans.

Any, I'm a vegetarian. I eat all vegetables, all the time.

I love almost all vegetables - sweet potatoes, bok choy, spinach, zucchini - you name it, I probably love it.
I hate almost all fruit - it's a texture thing.
I hate beans unless cooked in something and heavily seasoned/spiced.
I was a carb queen until my intestines said "screw you."
So now it's brown rice and quinoa.

I have no idea how I'm still alive.

I adore artichokes in almost any form. Spinach- I add it by the handful whenever I make anything involving a sauce or broth. Tomatoes. Green beans. Broccoli. Carrots, but only cooked. Mushrooms, especially oyster. Butterbeans, if those count. Snow peas. Peppers, but only cooked in certain dishes. I adore baby spring mix. Cabbage when cooked makes me light up.

...looking at this list, it might work better to go the other way around. I'll cross a store to avoid coming anywhere near onions or garlic. Everything else vegetable wise I either love or can be persuaded to put into my mouth.

I LOVE brussel sprouts and peas!

But I also enjoy broccoli, green beans, corn, potato, pumpkin, snow peas, onions, garlic, zucchini, chokos, silverbeet and shallots.

Other than me, you're the only one who loves brussels sprouts.

How do you cook your chokos? We call them chayotes over here.
