It's just out of curiosity.

I ask because I'm thinking of switching banks and wonder what most people use.

I don't mean to seem prying or invasive, and I apologize if I am.

I use a local credit union. The service is excellent, but the downside is that it's not a national or even regional presence so atm access, etc. is limited.

I am all for credit unions and small local banks, my accounts are with a credit union. I don't like going into a large bank and seeing a room full of strangers every time, the last bank I had an account with was bought out twice and had at least three complete changes of staff in the two years before I switched to the credit union.

I've used my local credit union for 11 years. No problems, ever.

I bank through Chase, though I don't particularly care for them. I only picked that one because of the "rewards program" and an incentive to open a checking account. With Chase, I have to spend about $5,000 to get a $10 gift card to Burger King or something. Wee, so much fun. My old bank account from another bank local to where I used to live offered much better rewards than that. Chase's savings accounts are pitiful, too. I've had a pretty good average in my savings account for about 2 years now, and have only earned a penny in interest. I don't remember the interest rate they gave me when I signed up, but it wasn't like .000000001%.

We were with Compass, but when they went under, they were bought by Chase, and it hasn't bugged me too much yet. It's funny though, when I was young I had an account with Valley National Bank which was eventually bought by Bank One which was later bought by Chase, so if I had kept my original account I would be in the same place.

It's not something I want to share. (Although I wasn't the one who flagged it.) Giving too much info over the internet isn't a good idea.

It's amazing what you can get on people from information like this, even without clearance or "numbers." Really.

I was (mostly) kidding. I, also, didn't flag the post.

It's stuffed between the mattress and boxspring beside the nightstand with the .38 in it. Loaded, by the way.

Banks are safer than having it stuffed in a pillowcase.. of course not having any money solves all the problems.
