What is a good price limit?

Contributor: Kitten has left the site Kitten has left the site
I normally have a price limit on toys. I have come to realize that not only does it limit a great dildo, or vibrator, or anything to me, but it also probably limits the safety on the material.

I come from a poor life, I haven't had that much money, and thanks to Edenpoints, I'm able to afford some toys (which I'm grateful for) and sometimes Hubby likes to surprise me with a new toy or outfit.

I'm rather...I'm pretty much a penny pincher, I try to save as much as I can until I HAVE to spend what I have.

In your honest opinion, what price is a great range to stop at?

I think $40 is a good point for me.

I think it depends on the type of toy honestly.

I picked $150 because that's about how much my Jopen cost. It's really hard to set a limit, I'll buy it if the toy is worth the money. On the other hand, I have pretty good self-control and will not waste my money on inexpensive junk that's useless to me.

For me, I try for toys that are around $10-$30 and tend to stray away from the higher dollar toys unless they are on sale.

You get what you pay for. So most of the time the more expensive the better quality. I would save up and buy few better toys than buy many cheap ones.

You do get what you pay for, but if you wait for a good sale you can get some really nice toys in the $40-$50 range. Tantus products come to mind.

Honestly, in real life, I also always try to be as economical as possible with everything I do. But on Eden, since I see sex toys as my hobby and kind of a luxury, I have NO problem saving up for expensive toys. I picked $150 and up, because most of my favorite silicone dildos were right around $100, and some of my really nice vibrators were $100 and up. I've got several $150 toys that I really like, and my last purchase was the $200 Eroscilator 2 Top Deluxe. (Had to save for a bit on that one.)

I don't bat an eye on that stuff, because part of the fun is trying different stuff and seeing what I like and don't like. Now, if I were spending purely all my own $$, I wouldn't have half the collection I have now, to be honest. I just see my toys as a luxury, and wouldn't be able to afford all the wonderful items I've gotten here as assignments, etc.

It really depends on the toy. I've found that I'll pay a lot more for vibrators over other toys!

I'm a toy enthusiast. When I see one I truly must have, I'll get in sooner or later. Though frequent ordering over the past year combined with a few other financial blows have made me a bit more reserved.

My usual out-of-pocket limit is $40 or $50, though I have splurged on several occasions. With points in the mix, anything is possible if you're patient enough, and I've recently imposed a "one order a month" limit on myself (which also allows me time to think very carefully about how much I want a particular toy). Just yesterday, after two months of saving up points and finding a nice coupon, I paid less than $10 for a $70 dildo!

I'm thankful for Eden points too, as i have not spent $ out of pocket on here thus far 1 1/2 yr later here. I'd say my price limit is 40 per toy depending on what i want, if big order i get small stuff = lingerie and bigger glass toys etc

I usually aim for 60 bucks (after sales, before cashing in points), mostly for free shipping. I generally try and save up a good chunk of points so that my total gets knocked down to a reasonable 30 bucks or so.

$30 is my limit unless there is something VERY special up to $50.

I am the same way when it comes to saving my money. I never spend more than 30 on a product here (that's out of my own money after I use my eden points). However, I'm finding that alot of my toys are breaking. Example, a $30 vibrator I had for a few weeks broke so it's a toss up... quality or quantity? I might as well have saved up a little more and invested in a better made vibrator.

As long as it's free with Eden Points I don't think you should fuss about it, it depends on it how many points you are willing to make and spend on the desired things...

I wholeheartedly agree! Like there is Earl, for more than $500 - well, will I get it nowadays? Hell no! But after I feel that I have really obtained everything I wanted to? Of course, sooner or later I will have the points for it! ^^

I chose $150, I like to use my points to get the more expensive items--pair them with GC's and they add up in no time!

I don't have a limit per say. If I think something is worth it, then I'll probably buy it. The most expensive thing I have was $300. I have plenty that were above the $150 mark. I believe you get what you pay for in terms of quality. It's unlikely that I'd buy a lot of $500+ toys, but if I saw something in that range that I HAD to have, I may still buy it.

Generally I try not to spend more than $20 on an order after points. But with points my orders will be around $100, but I save a lot using sales. If you are patient enough (and can resist the sales) then you should save up for the $100 and up toys. If you can't resist sales I try to stay below $50 for a toy. Unless it's an over 50% sale at which point I can stretch it. I usually try for around $20 price range I guess? But I just bought the Yooo on sale and I got my Siri, which are both big ticket items. I had to really resist going for quantity rather than quality. So if you have the points I'd say go for something big.

Many of us, myself included, have come from a low income background. Nothing wrong with that but you don't have to stay low income. That said... You can indeed spend more for a high quality toy (perhaps on sale) that meets your needs and be more frugal than spending less for one that will be a disappointment. You also have access to so much more information with the internet than I had when I was twenty two years old. So be smart prior to making that purchase, read the reviews and not only reviews here on EF. Make wise purchases and enjoy!

50 and up. I used to work in a store that sold this stuff, and I can assure you, you go any lower and the toys are more likely to break.

I mean, they are quick to use and handy, but they don't last very long and need replacing after a year or so.

$50 is a good limit but , if you use the alerts ,keep a eye on the sales, and save your points you could get a $80 or $90 toy for $50.
