Ok... so maybe it's a bit of a morbid q... but what song would you most want to be played at your funeral?

Wind Beneath my Wings ROFL, okay no, not that song.

I might let Vaccinium karaoke "Baby Got Back"... okay, not that either. (that's a running joke, btw, V and his fascination of "Baby Got Back") (This is also based on the assumption that anyone from EF would bother coming to my funeral)

Personal beliefs of the afterlife coming up:

I don't know. All I know is that I want my funeral to be a big party. I don't mind tears, but Jeez, I don't want people all depressed. I want people to celebrate my life, not mourn my passing from this life to a better one. I guess I really don't care what songs are played as long as the majority are upbeat and celebratory of a life lived.

If today was your last day - Nickelback. That song was played at my Dad's funeral and I would like it played at mine.

For me? Maybe "More than This", as performed by 10,000 Maniacs. I'd never given it much thought 'til now.

For my mom though, I've already chosen the song and she entirely agrees that we will be playing "A Better Place to Be" by Harry Chapin when she goes - she's quite possibly the world's largest Harry Chapin fan and she used to sing that song (odd if you know it, I know, but it was more about the message of it) when I was a little girl and it just seems strangely appropriate.

I have no idea. I've never really thought about it before. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

"If I Die Young"

The sharp knife of a short life?
Well, I've had just enough time.
So put on your best, boys, and I'll wear my pearls,
What I never did is done.

A penny for my thoughts?
Oh no, I’ll sell them for a dollar--
They're worth so much more after I’m a goner.
And maybe then you’ll hear the words I've been singing,
Funny when you're dead how people start listening.

If I die young bury me in satin,
Lay me down on a bed of roses,
Sink me in the river at dawn,
Send me away with the words of a love song.

I love that song....it's what my cell phone wakes me up to every day. Well, that alternating with Cradle of Love by Billy Idol if I hit snooze...

I have my cell phone awaken me to the theme song from Saved by the Bell; it's been my alarm since high school.

And I do so very much love "If I Die Young"; it's just such a well written song.

That is so dorky.

EDIT: In case anyone wonders, I mean that in a very endearing way.

LOL! Another one bites the dust is my choice too, until I can think of something serious. I would choose live fast die young, but I don't want to do that to my parents or grandparents. The last thing they'd want is screaming music during my funeral.

I was listening to "I'm Alive" by Superchick on my iPod today when I was at the gym. Made me think of this thread. I giggled. A LOT.
