I have a topless fairy on my right shoulder blade. I got it when I was 18 (totally regret it now). A friend at the time ( we were close until I discovered the real her) got a matching set. She had several tattoos so I made her go first so I could see what to expect( I am deathly afraid of needles). The tattoo took about 45 minutes to complete and she made the artist stop twice. I expected to pass out from anxiety and yet I sat through the whole thing with no breaks which surprised me. I love the tattoo and was not disappointed in the way it looks but the reasoning behind it and the fact that I forever have a matching one to her is what I regret.

My first tat was a rather large dream catcher on the outside of my calf. What I expected was pain. What I got was an indescribable feeling. Yes there was slight pain from time to time but it was a turn on and I am hooked. I only have two large ones as of now but I want more.

I had rainbow "bi pride" stars on my left foot with my girlfriend at the time's name. When we broke up I did make the mistake of deciding to get a coverup on her name, which turned out hella cute, but now I have to re-tat her name on my OTHER foot, because despite the STUPID reason we broke up, she's still my best friend. Hell, her kids call me "mom", I don't think we're leaving each other's lives any time soon

Very neat! If you don't mind my asking, are they facing INWARD or OUTWARD? A friend of mine has some facing outward (like beaks towards her shoulders, tails towards her clavicle) and I thought it looked interesting, but I've NEVER seen it done like that before! So I'm just curious

Mine was the Evenstar I have on my lower back. I expected to get something small, but due to the line work, we had to go a lot bigger than I originally wanted. I love it now though and I'm happy we went with the bigger size. It's still one of my favorite tattoos just because of how intricate it is.

Mine was a rose done by my ankle. It was blue, but I changed it to purple not too long ago. My skin didn't seem to take on the green or blue ink well.

My very first one was a matching one I got with my mom on my lower back. I had no idea what to expect, but it wasn't terribly pleasant. Despite that, I've gotten about 60 hours worth of work done since then and have no immediate plans for stopping.

None for me - I read these stories of young people getting tattoos with boyfriend or girlfriend names or other themes that they come to regret - it makes me wonder - 'what were they thinking?'

But as young people we don't seem to comprehend permanence and the degree to which our lives and tastes will change over time.

THINK BEFORE YOU INK!

Nickname on my wrist from when I was 16 and I regret it. It was done by a hand made gun by someone who I should have never let touch me with a tattoo gun.

I want one on each ankle and one on the back of my neck.

I have a pawprint from my favorite animal on my chest. I've had it for seven years now with no regrets!

I wish the shading came out a little better. The ink also bled a little under my skin so the edges blur a little. Beyond that, everything still is richly colored and looking at it makes me happy.

It didn't hurt. It felt sort of like how it feels when your foot falls asleep and you get that tingle-needle feeling. It bled a little, but it healed nicely with little loss of color.

I want more ink, I just need to figure out where I want it.

I have one on each of my hips, it's music notes and stars (they actually play a real song), it wasn't too bad, I'm getting my next one between my shoulder blades.

Paw prints on my hipbones above my pubic bone. I did them myself, upside down with a home made gun. They aren't perfect, but neither am I.

I love them to death.

Facing inward.

I have never seen them facing out either - two points to her for being unique!
