What was your major in college? And are you able to apply what you learned for that degree to your current job?

Journalism. It's not helpful at all.

English. It is useful, despite all the English major jokes out there (we tell those jokes probably more than anyone, actually). I'm planning on a creative writing masters in the near future...I know, I know. Not exactly a meal ticket, but damn it, I follow my heart, no matter how far it leads me astray.

Psychology. I just graduated, so am looking for a new job. My current one I suppose I use some of it when I have to deal with disgruntled customers.

I got my degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering. I did use the degree for about 25 years then changed to computer software sales and no longer use what I learned. Oddly enough I may get back into it through a clean-energy start-up that I consult for.

English for three years. Then I switched to marketing for one. Then I switched to finance for one. I liked English the best, but there was nothing I could do with an English Lit major. I never graduated because I switched majors too many times.

C: I'm currently double majoring in Art and Anthropology. I have maybe two/two and a half years left.
I currently work at an alcohol and drug rehab for women, and I definitely think I am able to use my (anthro) skills in this occupation. Not sure how to explain "how" though.

I'm still in college and my major is mechanical engineering. My current job isn't related to my major, but I've come to realize that my engineering skills are very helpful when writing reviews.

I'm only a few months away from graduating but I'm a Women's Studies major with a minor in both Human Development and Queer Studies. So it's very unlikely I'll find a job related to my major/minors. I plan on going to grad school or law school though.

Currently double majoring in Environmental Earth Science and Geology. The job I have right now has no connection to those majors whatsoever.

Mr Bignuf was a BIOCHEMISTRY MAJOR....minor in Physics. Uses it every single day in his job (had a lot more schooling after that too).

Mrs. Bignuf was a BIOLOGY major, with minor in Psychology. Also went into a lot of grad school training and also uses all those major topics at work, every day.

I was a Women and Gender Studies major in undergrad. Now I'm working on my masters in Social Work. I can't wait to graduate and start working in the community!

You need to read some of the APRIL FOOL's topic posts here. As an engineer, you might both enjoy them AND maybe add a creative one yourself!!!

Curious....working in the community doing WHAT? Just wondering how you plan to plug those degree skills into the workplace? I ask, since a friends daughter has a similar degree set and just went back to school "for something else" as she was having issues finding work in her desired area. Best wishes, in any case, on achieving your dreams!!!!

What are your career plans with that degree? If it is what you KNOW you feel is right...DON'T give up your dream. PASSION and ENJOYMENT can lead to happiness and often even financial success...in ANY field, if handled right.

BEST WISHES.

AWESOME. Teachers still get half the money and a quarter the KUDOS and respect they deserve. NONE of us, who enjoy a certain amount of success in life, don't owe a huge debt of gratitude to a number of SUPERB teachers who touched our minds and souls. THANK YOU.

I have a BS in Business Administration and used it for 5 years after college when I was a store manager, but now I'm a stay-at-home mom. I suppose I still use some of the skills I learned but instead of managing a business I'm managing a home with two kids while the husband is in grad-school. Money is always tight, but I find creative ways to make it work. I use my commissions from here to help bring in a little extra income when I accumulate enough from my affiliate code. I get bath and body items from here when I'm running low on items that I need. I comparison shop, hunt for coupon codes and clip coupons.

Zoology- I use my degree in my field, I work in veterinary medicine, since zoology is basically animal biology, I debated applying to vet school but decided against it, I still enjoy my field working on the nursing side of things instead of doc.

My major/degree was in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts. Other than my internship and a brief stint in radio sales, I haven't used the skills once unless you count making mixed CD's (when that was a thing).

I went back in the fall of '07 for my teaching certification (Math/History). BUT "No child left behind" made the whole thing an ordeal and I wasn't able to afford to keep going.

I might go back for something, but I don't know what to do. I don't want to waste time/money just taking random classes and getting more debt.
