When did you first start feeling old?

I first started to feel old when some young guy called me "ma'am" & meant it!

How about anyone else?

Well I'm not quite old...but sometimes I feel like I have the body of an 80 year old. There are days my hips, knees, or back hurt so bad I can't walk and have to spend the day on the couch or in bed icing my joints.

When I was in ICU at one of the top trauma hospitals in the area-- right after my car accident. Every single RN and nurse looked like they were 16. I promise!!! It was a bit bizarre...I was really wondering about that head injury, lol!

These accounts are making me feel better! It snuck up on me, darned it, last I remember I was 38 & still looked like I was in college. Now I see my skin elasticity has started to go & I look more tired & angry, ha ha! Preventative measures are not enough, now I need to go into repairs! I bought the Back To Life machine/gizmo that really helps when my back gets tight now that I threw it out for the first time a few years ago. I'm taking supplements I never needed before. And holy heck, I'm buying sex toys, the end must be near! If I come to the point where I can't orgasm anymore, then I will be really pissed off, but until that day, maybe it's not so bad after all to be called "ma'am".

When did you first start feeling old?

The onset of grey hair, arthritis, and being asked by the Safeway cashier whether I needed help taking my groceries to the car.

I always wanted to feel old when younger and now that I'm almost 60 feel younger than I was in my twenties! In my youth, everyone was always much older than I and I always felt like the baby of any group I belonged to. Today for me, age and how I feel is a state of mind and my mind shouts youth and energy!

People use Ma'am here regardless of age a lot of the time. I started to feel old in Elementary school when I realized people were baby-talking at me and I took offense. It just got worse from there. LOL

Juvenile humor being called "adult humor". I think I was eight. Adults were no longer Grown-Ups to me if they found potty humor funny.

Although what really hit me was Mulder's son being the same age he was when we first met in high school. The kid looks EXACTLY like he did at the time ... (And I could have been that kid's mom if I wasn't familiar with my menstrual cycles.)

Those are the biggest shocks, running into the children of people you haven't seen since they were that age. But, your's had to be an even bigger shocker, it seems! Wow...

I never found anything scatological & so on, to be humorous, at any age & have always had the same attitude as you about it! It was easy to lose respect for some adults...

I know that you guys are going to want to smack me here, but I started feeling old when I turned fourteen, and it just got worse every birthday after that.

I read a LOT of fantasy books when I was younger, and the kids in those were always 12-13. Then there were the 16 year olds. Then the 18 year olds. And after that, you were too old to ever have a magical adventure again, and your life was over.

I did not believe in magic, but I was still crushed when I turned fourteen and nothing had happened and I had to start high school like all the other boring kids.

It's quite true - the girl after me got pregnant with Mulder's kid the summer after high school graduation, about two months after he got my virginity (I can't decide if she was looking to get pregnant or she was that irresponsible about birth control). My friends from HS and I are in our mid-thirties, and now the kids from those who started right after graduation are in high school themselves.

C and I will be having our child in a few years ... we joked that we waited so our friends' kids can babysit our kid.

Not yet, thank God! I've been called ma'am. I haven't really felt old yet. I keep hearing that it all goes down hill after 25, though and I am 23 so it depresses me.

In my experience, there are some things, obviously, that go downhill after 25, but there are so many other things that get better! For me, age 30 and age 35 were milestones where I gained so much! In self-awareness, my sex life (I became so much more discriminating and able to express my needs & wants), financial security, and so much more. I'm in my forties now and would not want to go back to my twenties!

Lmao my mom gets so pissed when people call her maam. Sometimes people say it to just be polite because people have said it to me and I look like I am 15 years old. I feel old physically because I am really fucking sick and tired all the time but I feel young mentally. I feel like I am an old grandpa who is really tired and naps a lot basically because I am so fatigued all the time.

Also poop jokes are funny sometimes yall are haters

I've felt old for years. Once I was diagnosed with heart problems, I started to feel like an old woman. It was mostly from the side effects of medication (i.e. lethargy, aching joints, etc.).
