When is it okay to start a new relationship?

I'm referring to cases of separation and divorce.

Personally, if I was married and things were ending, I'd wait till I was legally single again before I even started thinking about dating and having a new relationship. Longer, depending on my emotional state.

Well. Last time I had a break up was over eight years ago. For me. I waited all most four years before I started seriously dating again, and am still single. However, the only reason I waited so long was because I needed the time to be comfortable with who I was, before i tried getting back on the horse.

Still, for most people. Rather it be a divorce or just a 'common' break-up. I think someone should try to wait until they feel ready to date.
