When's the last time you went on a 1 week or longer vacation?

Contributor: Solar Ray Solar Ray
Just looking to see when is the last time you went on a long vacation away from home. 7 days minimum away from home... and not work related.

For me I can't even remember for sure but it's about 7 years or so.

I took off the last week of December and the first two weeks of January to prepare for my wedding, get married, then go on the honeymoon. We were only on the honeymoon for 7 days, but it still counts. The summer of '09 we went on a 3 week road trip, one week with my family, and then one to New England and down to Florida.

Can't beat a 3 week road trip. I took one last summer. Going back to work was tough.

Two week hunting trip about three years ago. Since I lost my job in April of 09, I guess you could say I have been on an extended vacation.

Every year we pack up the car and head north about 6 hours to visit family in sudbury for a week. I get to spend time with my family, the man gets to relax, and the girl child runs wild with her little cousin. If you mean of the non-road trip variety... LOL.. um.. when I was 12 we flew to Vancouver for a couple weeks.

Three years ago, my family went to the Smoky Mountains. It was a memorial trip to spread my father's ashes. We had a few private, somber moments, but besides that we had a lot of fun and tried to create new memories while trying to remember old ones. It was one of his favorite places that we as a family visited, so it was important to go back. I haven't been anywhere since.
I was supposed to go to Mississippi this winter, but I ended up injuring myself, so I wasn't able to go. My sister and I are talking about a road trip this summer, but who knows if that will happen.

My husband and I have never been on vacation before. We weren't able to take a honeymoon. However, a few weeks ago he surprised me with a cruise in May! Can't wait to finally have time away just the two of us.

We actually go on vacation pretty frequently. We tend to go for short trips 3-4 days because my boyfriend has almost 2 weeks less vacation time than I do and it all has to be selected a year in advance. When I was married and my ex and I both had 3+ weeks of vacation time, we went away for a week in may, ten days in August, a few long weekends to visit my mom in FL and a few weekends (or half weeks) in Atlantic City. I don't miss him, but I do miss the lifestyle!!!

Since the economy started to suck, we haven't been anywhere, except for the occasional weekend. Even the last weekend was more than a year ago. The last real "Vacation" was about 5 years ago, I think. It was a nice place (San Fransisco) but we My Man got kind of selfish and instead of investigating Golden Gate park and things the entire family would enjoy, we followed him around while he visited a disgusting number of wineries in Napa. It ended badly, as I got really upset. Family vacations should NOT be about watching Daddy get drunk. The kids and I were bored to death. I'm gonna shut up now.

We used to go on a family vacation every summer and a weekend away around our anniversary, but the money just isn't enough to do that right now.

Never took that long of a vacation that long. The most I've ever done was a long weekend. I have too much of a work ethic to take that much time off.

I was studying abroad in England last year and I did a lot of traveling. We had a really long spring break in March and I went to Egypt, Turkey, Germany, and Greece.

Our whole summer was a vacation. We drove over from the West coast to the East coast, visisting all sorts of tourist attractions on our way home. It took us 11 days to drive as we took our time. And when we did get back, we spent about 4 or 5 days in the northern part of Quebec, about 7-8 hours away from where we live.

I have my march break next week and I SOOO deserve it, I've been working crazy hard to keep my grades inside 90-100%. My guy and I will be doing our Valentine's weekend in a really nice city. It will be really sweet and romantic I hope, If not, atleast we'll have a lot of fun sight seeing.

It depends...I'm a student and I get a week or two off between terms (depending when exams are), but I always have to visit my parents, and that's not exactly relaxing...plus I don't take summers off, which only makes it worse.

Last summer me and my BF went to the Urals, primarily - to visit his grandparents, who lived in the region. Weren't climbing the mountains, though, just enjoyed our time at the lakes etc.

My wife and I go on about 7 to 10 mini vacations a year all over the country, but they have only lasted between 4 and 6 days each time. We like to go on a lot of vacations, so we have to take a little less than a week at a time with each one. I retired almost two years ago, so I can go anytime I want, but the wife gets four weeks off a year so we have to divide them up and add days on to holidays and things like that. We went to Dallas for 3 days and then onto Seattle for 6 days last September.

I usually go on trips that are 3-4 days long and do about two of those a year. My last weeklong trip was about 5 years ago. When I finish school next year I will probably take one before i start my real job hunting.
