WHY?

(We stick with a certain brand that we have always trusted and gotten great performance with. We also avoid like the plague a certain name brand that we have twice, in our driving lives, had severe car problems with).

no. i just get the cheapest because my car only takes unleaded so it doesn't matter.

It's pretty much all the same stuff - just like Motts Apple Juice and the store brand are the same thing (most of the time). The refineries have certain regulations to comply with and all brands must meet these minimum requirements, the super unleaded and what not just have a cleansing agent in them which is supposed to be better for your vehicle (but it really depends on the vehicle and the environment said vehicle operates in on a daily basis).

There are certain stations I avoid because of their liberal use of ethanol. (My cars are slightly too old to appreciate it.)

YES! I have a Prius and it shows how many miles to the gallon we got per tank. I have found that a certain gas station gives us about five miles to the gallon less. Thankfully the most convenient gas station does great on gas, and I buy that even though I can get a discount on the other gas. Why save 50 cents a tank when you get 50 miles less on the same tank?
