How do YOU handle it?

When I was a teen I took to cracking my knuckles..my mom HATED that. Unfortunately it just kinda stuck during high stress times.

Dealing with a nightmare of a client right now and my poor knuckles are paying the price.

I do crack my knuckles and I bite my lip or the inside of my mouth, but neither of those are really "handling" stress to me. They're just reflexes that occur for me.

I handle it by taking a few deep breaths and counting to 10 slowly. If it's something particularly stressful or upsetting I will say to myself "this is only temporary, this will end" and sometimes "Serenity NOW!!"

I also find that a piece of candy or a cup of coffee help me. They're both something that I enjoy. So, if I can add something enjoyable to a time of stress it helps me to calm myself down.

I play video games when stressed. Otherwise I listen to music, the type depends on the stress at the time, where I'm at, etc. Sometimes I just run around and get a shit ton done and then the stress will pass due to me working hard.

When I am stressed I like to scream "FUCK" and break glass! Well ok, I hardly ever do those things... but I always want to! Breaking glass feels sooooo good!

I have a kinda soft ball that I squeeze the hell out of. And I hit the gym, takes care of my aggression. Nothing like a few rounds of kickboxing with a guy...most women won't spar with me.

No really I go sit under a tree in my back yard and watch the chickens peck the ground. Do not know why, but it just helps to clear my mind.

Breathing, exercise. Nothing like some good old adrenaline to help relieve stress.

If I can't do those then I tend to use a lot of self talk.


If I am really pissed I will hit the gym and lay out on the punching bag.

It really depends on what's going on, and what my stress level is. Sometimes I masturbate, bite my lip, clip my cuticles/finger nails, collage, or my personal favorite that ALWAYS helps...clean.

First I fume, talk to myself and make all sorts of stupid plans. Then I either yell at a guy or write. Writing usually helps more but sometimes the guys becaome casualties of my stress war.

If you aren't really attached to the chickens as pets or something you could wring a neck or two...a few hours of plucking feather and you've not only reduced your stress you now have dinner!

I am picturing a not so happy stress free Victoria observing the breakage...Speaking of which I had a friend who blew glass (how erotic does that sound??)and he would save the rejects to throw at the back of his studio. He claimed he managed his high blood pressure this way. He was convinced the act of throwing the glass was a cardio work out and hearing the glass shatter lowered his blood pressure by the same amount as stroking a cat did. He got stressed one afternoon and nearly balded his cat stroking him...NOT a happy Kitty Mommy when she got home lemme tell ya!

I have panic attacks! It's terrible. At first I thought they were seizures. I'd rather have it be anything than just me being crazy... but now I handle it better.. :]
