Death as in me or someone I love dying. How can this be less scary than a spider?

It was hard to pick just one but I chose death. I know it's unavoidable in the end but I don't like to think about it, it makes me sad. But I'm also scared of small enclosed spaces, heights, being outside alone at night, (this is so childish) but basements and attics freak me out. I'm also creeped out spiders and most bugs, especially ones that fly with the exception of a small few.Oh, and Public speaking.

Abandonment/being alone. It's kind of paradoxical because I'm in a shitty ass "marriage" yet I stay because being alone is terrifying to me.

Can I choose ALL? Lol. I'm a skeeerdy cat so no planes for me. I watched the 9/11 movie and it broke my heart so much and just the fact that it happened is enough to keep my scared self away. I know, I'm a chicken! OK, spiders have to be the most scary to me though. They make me sick. I usually don't even say the word! It freaks me out so bad, I spell it instead. Ha. Ha. If I see one I'll say "OMG! There's an S-P-I-D-E-R!" Lol. A couple of summers ago, (we live on a mountain) it was 3AM and I was looking for a hair pin. I have this cart, one of those plastic things with drawers. I dug through it, couldn't find one so I dug further back. I started seeing these tee-tiny little crawly things. So small I couldn't see what they were. I mean these things were small enough to be a decoration on my pinky toenail! So I dig and dig and there are MILLIONS so I grabbed my hairspray and start spraying. It was killing them. Then I reached my hand in the back of the drawer and I'll be damned! There was an S-P-I-D-E-R the size of TEXAS sitting back there looking at me! (I'm starting to sweat just telling this story).

I had a panic attack and called my sister. I was nearly dry heaving and she was helping me get up the courage to kill it. I would get close and jump back almost in tears! Finally we came up with a plan to grab a broom and smash everything inside the drawer as hard and quick as possible, to the back. This way, it'd hopefully all ram into the bastard and kill it. It took me hours to get the nerve up. I finally did it and yelled and it worked! I threw that cart out on the porch and couldn't touch it for days without freaking. I know, this is pathetic!

So that's mostly when my REAL fear of S-P-I-D-E-R-S came about. Not long after that incident, ANOTHER one got inisde my bedroom! I spotted it at about 3 or 4AM again and was only wearing a t-shirt. Nothing else! I grabbed a chair and climbed on it with the broom... once again. I had a panic attack trying to kill it and my dad was there and came running in. Here I was on a chair with my rear end hanging out, no undies, having a panic attack! It was awful. He killed it for me and now we spray bug killer like it's going out of style. Lol. NO more embarrassing moments with bugs for me! Ha. Ha.

Yes, they scare me more than anything. I'm also weird about failing. Just talking about that tonight. I tend to avoid situations where I could fail and it's an awful habit. I made a goal tonight to get out of my comfort zone and accomplish something small this week. LOl. I can be pathetic when it comes to my fears sometimes.

So, Sktb20007, what are your fears?

That's my mom's fear too. I've never seen that woman scared in her life except when she sees someone with their face covered. Even people with a helmet covering their faces have startled her. It's because she was robbed 3 times where she works and now she gets nervous at first when she sees someone with any kind of face covering.

Hey! I totally understand that one! It is creepy! I have actually looked out my bedroom and SEEN a man there! I won't ever do that one again. Lol.

That is a scary thing though, since it takes a while to really see what's there in the dark. Give me a heart attack! Lol

Oh oops. I just now seen where you did share your fear. Lol. Just ignore my first post then. I'm with you on the spiders and grandaddy long legs! I yell when I see those, but can handle them MUCH better than the regular spiders. Have you ever squished a grandaddy long leg and noticed the horrid smell they put off? God I hate those things! I get mad just thinking about it. Lol. I'd rather have a slug... heck I'll take fleas before I will handle spiders! Lol

I think my worst fear would be something bad happening to the people I love.
I'm also afraid of spiders and the dark. Spiders, because they're just disgusting, treacherous crawly little buggers that make me want to run screaming like a little girl and vomit. And the dark, because I don't like the fact that you can't see what's around you... Probably why I don't like swimming at the beach either.

But I have no issues with heights or flying or public speaking or any of that other stuff.

I get anxious about driving because I've known so many friends that were killed in car accidents. It does make me anxious, but I would call myself phobic.

I grew up with snakes for pets, so I absolutely love them. I feel the same way about spiders as you do.
PET IT! PET IT WITH YOUR SHOE!
I steer clear of tarantulas. They're spiders, but bigger, hairier, and can jump farther.

Fantastic thread!

It was very hard to decide (as only one option could be chosen) if I should choose spiders or needles... (And I am afraid of height too, and very tight places, rarely of the Dark, and I can't even imagine my life without my Master, being alone again, and rejection is a great fear too...)

As I can look at some spiders (and the veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeryvery tiny ones I don't mind to handle too) and I was always ok with getting a shot, more frightened but still ok with having my blood taken, but the sight of a needle in the skin is the worst picture I could imagine in my whoooooooooooole life!!!!!!!!!! It truly freaks me out, like spiders, I scream, I start to cry hysterically, I really don't want to be such a wimp but they really scare the hell out of me, don't wanna hurt no poor spiders and I never do, but I am really scared of those two things to the core of my bones, I wonder if I could have a heart attack and die because of such a thing! ~sighs

Two interesting things btw, if you didn't know about them...

My needle fear must have developed because when I was very little and not eating well and "bloodless" (when you can see that a kid doesn't get all the needed nutritions, the red part under the eyeballs have a different shade) my blood was taken twice, first time I was watching of course cause I was curious, and it was horrible cause I didn't know it would be so horrible, and second time I was watching too because I thought that maybe it would be different, well it was as horrible, so ever since then I never looked at such a scene, and turn away each time a needle goes in me, mostly all trembling and pale, at least when it comes to having my blood taken... I also hate it from the bottom of my heart when one has to line up, and wait to be next, so you have to have an eye on it somehow, and it's hard sometimes to find a spot you can look at so you won't see folks with needles all lined up to stick them into even more lines of folks... :S:S:S (And I hate the "needle movies" too - so many movies have one or a few needle scenes in them that I often have to set my mind and be ready to turn away in time, unless it is a surprise scene, then I almost cry, curse as hell, I always ask my Master to tell me when it's over, and when W/we are watching a subtitled movie I ask Him to read it for me so I won't miss anything... But He totally disagrees and says that I should face my fear, and get used to the sight, but I couldn't ever ever ever do such a thing!!! He even says a lot that before I came to live with Him He never realized how many "needle scenes" are in movies and shows... Sometimes He even growls at me because of it, once He even made me believe that a scene was knitting scene until I looked at the acupuncture scene, freaking out as hell, and cursing Him like oh my, second time He tried too but I didn't get His Trick of saying wow, cause I wasn't interested in what was going on in the screen at all, going only to see Him and not the CSI He was watching, and He said that He tried to make me look at the needle scene, so am glad as hell that I wasn't interested in CSI! ~lays ears)
So that's how I became totally fuckin afraid of the sight of needles stuck into skin... Am fine with sawing and everything else... Didn't really watch when I was using meat needles and toothpicks when cooking too... My God... ~yowls

Other interesting fact...

Did you know that you can genetically inherit phobias too?
If let's say your mom got bitten by a dog waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before you were born then you can just inherit the fear too, and be afraid of dogs as well!!! Wonder if that has happened with any of you!

yeah sorry if i made any of you tweek out. 3 out of 5 females have been molestated so I'm going to say it's common. Sadly common.
