I am getting a bad cold. It got me thinking. I have to say colds are my least favorite illness even though it's such a common one.

There is no 'other' in this poll. Just want to know which is worse out of these 2 options.

Yeah, I'll take a cold over the stomach virus myself. I am way more miserable vomitting out both ends over a several hour period than coughing and sneezing and feeling like my brain is melting out of my head over a week.

I mean, I hate being sick period, but I am the worst when I have a stomach virus because then I really CAN'T go to work and suck it up with a bit of meds.

Colds are no fun (and I think I'm coming down with one too), but while they drag out over a period of time at least you are not totally incapacitated like you are with most stomach viruses.

If I'm going to be sick I at least like to be able to keep down foods and just take it easy and that's pretty much right out with a flu.

I've had some pretty nasty colds, but nothing that ever made me wish I had the stomach flu.

Stomach flu just puts me down for the count! Also very inpatient with it.

Stomach flu! I can do anything with a cold, but I can not do anything except vomit and poop while having the flu. I end up in the bathroom for the whole time. I even fall asleep on the floor.

Definitely, to me, the flu is way worse! With a cold, like Beck said - I can power through. Usually just some cold medicine and I can still work and everything.

But, with the flu - I'm just miserable and that's no fun.

I'd much rather have a cold than the flu. With a cold I don't have to worry about making it to the bathroom in time and I can still function if I absolutely have to.

i've never had a stomach flu last more than a little over a day. but i would rather vomit for a day than have a soar throat for a week, which is about how long mine usually last. i hate having soar throats!

I wouldn't put a lot of distance between these two choices. Either one sucks. I had to choose a cold as the worst one though. With the stomach flu, I may be miserable, but I can still function. When I get a head cold, I can't get comfortable at all. Sinus headaches are the worst. I can't think or focus. I get very irritable. I hate that. At least with a stomach flu, I can still think and process information.

As much as I hate having a sore throat, I can still function.

It's impossible to go out and live when you have stomach flu.

Stomach Flu is much worse. I have allergies so I am used to headache, stuffy nose, sore throat and cough anyways.

I would much rather have a cold... I'm miserable and no good for anything/anyone when I've got a stomach virus, and that is just not acceptable when you have young children.

With the flu you get it, get over it and go on with your life in about 2-3 days. With the cold I am stuck for about 2 weeks. Definitely rather have the flu and be miserable for only a few days then go about my life.
