Who do you protect from painful, sad, hurtful or other negative issues? Do they know you protect them or do you keep it to yourself? How do they feel about it?

I protect my daughter --who is 22-- from the bad news and painful issues with other family members who are well known for causing problems within the family. She knows and appreciates the effort.

My family, friends two cats and boyfriend.

But I try to protect everyone I see, I don't like seeing people sad or suffering I always do what I can to help or protect them.

My parents, they do need to know everything.

In the past I have sheltered my children from bad news. I've come to the conclusion that this is not a smart plan. It's better that they face the real world - including the challenges and bad news. They are adults now, so I'm not in the business anymore.

I really try not to shelter anyone in my life from bad news-- maybe my mum, since she doesn't really do well with emotions, anyways? I feel like it rarely helps anyone to keep things from them.
