Why do you think it is so fascinating? :):):)

I have realized several reasons why soooooo many people are fascinated with the history of second world war, and am curious why you think it has a special place in our heart to learn more and more about it!

A lot of it for me has to do with oppression of the people, concentration camps which from the time I was about 10 I was astounded by, and the fact that I know several survivors of that time, including some who were held IN the concentration camps.

From start to finish, the expense and seeing and learning what those people went through.

I tried, and still do, to understand the "logic" of Hitler himself. Wondering if he was simply just mentally ill, why someone would go to such great lengths to wipe out an entire peoples.

I also feel it is an important war for us to study, because so much of it is happening now, today. All over again! We even have people of power wanting concentration camps for gays. It scares me, and makes me wonder if it will happen again, which it very well could.

Several of my family members were taken to the camps. Only two survived. Baruch HaShem!!

I think it may be because we hear about it so much first hand, from people who actually lived through it. It's too recent in our history to not be intrigued over. Additionally, it is one of the largest wars the US has ever been in.

DreamWolf, you said you had some explanations. What are they? :o

It's only of interest to those who crave knowledge. Too many walk around not caring where we came from or why.

For me... I have a bit of a thing for nuclear war? If that's a possible fetish? So I loved the whole Manhattan Project, I loved the posters, I loved the entire imagery of the war.

I also think that a lot of it has to do with the concentration camps. Believe it or not they cam up with a lot of medical breakthroughs... By doing awful things that we would never have been able to bring ourselves to try. It's human nature to be obsessed with the morbid, death is the final frontier that we have no idea about. That's what I think, anyways.
