Will you ever take a complete day off when it comes to eating healthy?

A lot of us are trying to eat healthier. Whether it be only ordering a water with your meal at McDonalds, or doing a completely strict diet all around.

My diet is basically agreeing with myself NOT to eat anything from a box. I've been good at keeping this for almost 5 months now! It actually makes me sick to eat things out of boxes now because of the preservatives.

I also don't ever eat greasy food, fattening food, fast food, food high in calories, etc.

Today, I've decided HELL WITH IT, and I make funnel cakes for breakfast. Homemade funnel cakes. Soaked in grease, and topped with powdered sugar... recipe for FAT! And for lunch we're ordering pizza because it's "too rainy to go to the grocery store" according to my husband. So I said to myself "STL, it's time to take a day off. Just eat whatever the hell you want!". So I am.

What about you? Do you ever do this?

Day off? I eat like this everyday!
I think taking a day off would turn into a week, and then into a month, etc. So no.

I don't take day offs because I would rather eat healthy all the time.

I don't have that strict of a diet. I eat what I want, but in small portions. That's how I stay healthy.

I'm not on a diet, but I do have days where I go all out and eat the most fattening foods available to me.

I'm not on a diet, I eat healthy typically because those are the foods I enjoy. Occasionally, though, I do eat things that are terrible for me.

I'm not really on a diet. I don't care for a lot of foods, especially junk foods, so I just avoid them. I do eat pizza and burgers and stuff sometimes, though. I am on my feet all day at work and I work out as well, so the junk I eat ends up burning itself off pretty quickly.

I'm a vegetarian and I never take a day off from that because it's a moral issue. I'm never on a diet nor do I go out of my way to eat healthy. I just kinda pick at whatever I want during the day. If it's healthy then yay, if it's junk oh well. Sometimes I'll go weeks eating ice cream for dinner and then I'll realize that's probably not the best idea and eat some salads to offset it. I don't really watch what I eat at all except for excluding meat and seafood from my diet.

I'm not on a diet, and am lucky enough to have a body that at least so far has resisted putting on too many pounds at all.

Right now I do a fair bit of walking (usually about a mile a day), and eat fresh home-cooked food the vast majority of the time. We get a lot of our food either from our own garden or the farm about a mile from our house (we're part of a C.S.A., community supported agriculture). I also try and avoid almost entirely anything with high fructose corn syrup, which eliminates the bulk of processed foods.

We've also been trying to do one week of vegetarian each month.

But I'm definitely not opposed to taking a day off from all of this here or there for the right foods, or when visiting friends/relatives...or if you just are having a craving for something.

As long as you have the willpower to make sure that one day is just one day...it's no big deal.

I do take days off (once every two weeks or so?) from trying to lose weight and just eat whatever. It seems like when I'm stressed out I take more days off. But oh well. Stress makes me lose weight anyway so I guess it works out right?

I eat whatever I want. I eat healthy most of the time. If I want a piece of cake I eat it.

I am not on a diet, so I don't really think of the occaisional "junk" as taking a day off. I don't really like junk food all that much, I would even always prefer to make pizza than to order out, etc. More often than not, the types of foods I want to eat I think taste better if I make them from scratch. Do I eat junk? Yeah, sometimes - if I'm at a friend's house or we get a rare hankering for some junk.. But not for a whole day. I would just feel physically sick and that's not fun at all.

I try and eat healthy wherever I go because, generally, lactose and sugar make me sick to my stomach! This means that even if I want to eat cupcakes and icecream and funnel cakes and pancakes for every meal, I could constantly be sick! Mist of the time I stick with high protein meals and fruit desserts because of my picky digestive system.

if i go a few weeks in a row doing really well, then i'll take a whole day off. other than that, i only let myself have a little something once a week, like a drink or something.

I try to make healthy choices when I can but allowing myself to eat what I want occasionally is what keeps me happy!

I've allowed myself to slide from having a day off here and there to basically eating mostly healthy but still eating small amounts of bad stuff here and there..I'd rather eat strictly healthy like 98% of the time, rather than the 75% I have going on right now..

I'm so lazy lol

When I'm on a healthy diet, I can't touch any kind of junkfood. One little bit will totally blow my diet and I won't get back on it.

Today must be "be bad" day. I have been on a real diet, diet, getting ready for my daughters wedding next year. Today I fell of the wagon. Departmental meeting this morning with FAT filled dough-nuts. Was I a horrible human by having one? NOPE.....I had TWO!!!!! OUCH.

Of course, I won't eat till dinner now, so I am not going to let it crush me TOO bad.

Let's BOTH resume our GOOD plan TOMORROW.

I really think that is the ONLY way to make healthier eating a lifestyle thing...if you allow yourself a bit of cheat and wiggle room, so you don't completely "fall off" the wagon and say "screw it".

Folks on those super carb only diets, I have noticed, have that happen all the time. They do it religiously for a while. Lose a TON of weight, then drop off the program and not only put the TON back on, but add another HALF ton.

Bottom line, they don't allow themselves any wiggle room, so it is complete success, till it becomes dramatic failure.

If that is a real photo of you, and not a generic Avatar, well, you are doing something VERY right. Either way, eating "mostly healthy" still sounds like the best way to stick to it long term.

I don't think I'll ever take a day off. My fiancee and I are both health nuts, so eating healthy is our lifestyle.
