Winter Blues - Who gets them?

Contributor: Bill220 Bill220
Every year around this time I get sluggish, tired and somewhat depressed. I got hit with it early this year even though it's been pretty nice here lately. Anyone else feel this way?

I am going to try one of those light boxes if it gets bad enough.

I do. I've never heard of a light box for that. I have a medical condition and the winter does not help.

I get that way as well. I had a light box that I used for years. It was expensive as hell and I don't know that it did very much.

What light box things are you talking about? I've never heard of that. I... well, I get depressed anytime I'm not doing anything for any amount of time - so, yes, winter tends to be worse because then I can't even just go for a walk comfortably.

I have bad seasonal affective disorder but I find exercise helps...and getting outside regardless of the cold.

I get winter nightmares, I don't know why, usually I just have very odd dreams but in the wintertime I tend to have much darker more horror related dreams where I wake up feeling out of sorts. My boyfriend tells me to wake him up but I don't feel comfortable talking about the dreams since they are usually really dark and make me depressed. But usually I'm not affected by any sort of seasonal depression.

I agree, I have read that any sort of artificial sunlight helps, as can vitamin D to relieve the blues of winter.
